Walkyrje Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Hello. Just here to say hello. Wondering if there is some players on my age "45" year. So use to play on the normal multiplayer server. I am a bit new to this. So i will stay away for expert mode a bit. Need some training and so. And this is a great sim. Love the sound and the look of it. I used to play a little RoF before i got wife and kids.

DeafBee Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) Hey Dragon. I am 40 and have wife and kid too. I fly with my friends from the 19te Sqaudron. You are always welcome to join our Team speak channel. We also come from ROF which we have been playing for years now. We also play mostly on the normal server in BOS. I hope one day there will be "semi realistic severs". I like the that there are no icons on the realistic server, but miss the external view for the cinematic feeling and when flying in formation with my Sqaudron. If I wanted something to be realistic I would not play a game and be out in the real world flying a plane. Edited April 30, 2014 by 19te.Deafbee

sallee Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) Hello, Dragon. I'm 50 (and have two children). I don't know if that's what makes me a magnet for people who want to blow me out of, not the sky exactly, but the twenty feet of air above the runway! I bet they're kids.... Funnily enough, you may have a better chance in expert settings as you have a better chance of hiding without a big pole with your name on sticking out of your aircraft. MarcoRossolini Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Yep luckily all the kids are getting their kicks in War Thunder... As a right dishonourable 18 year old I take great umbridge at that!
Chuck_Owl Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 As a right dishonourable 18 year old I take great umbridge at that! Me too! I'm 24. I guess people here come from all walks of life. @ Dragon: I highly recommend you start in expert mode. Forget normal: you'll get much, much more satisfaction if you start with the "hard" stuff (which is really not that hard if you've got someone who is willing to take 10 minutes of their time to show you the ropes). You'll never learn the proper way to fly an aircraft if you limit yourself to easier modes. Most people here are more than glad to teach new players (I know I've taught a couple of new guys in Cliffs). Just ask, and you'll get all the help you need. Most people here are a very patient and friendly bunch, and there's nothing I like more than hearing a new guy telling me that "Ah HA! I've got it now! It's working!" 1

But for me i have the problem my track ir have been a toy for my dog. So it,s not working anny more and then i will have the problem to spot enemy in expert mode. Btw anny one know if there is a good profile for BoS to a saitek x52 pro.
Habu Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Before going in multiplayer, you can practice the QMB and learn to manage your engine. It's very important and it's the big difference between normal and expert. In expert, you don't need enemi to kill your plane.
s8n Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 41 here...i play in normal servers so you can come shoot me down. i suck too so don't worry lol FTT~

Walkyrje Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Think i will use my ingame profile name here so u all can fly past me without killing me when i am flying online *
Steambat Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 50 here - constantly shot down since the turn of the century!
Habu Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 One friend tell us when he instruct us a few years ago that : a plane alone is a target, two planes is a task force. So try to fly with friend or on TS which can help to fly in team.
KodiakJac Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 56 here, and flying on Normal servers. Can't log the hours of practice necessary to survive on the Expert servers, plus love the external view eye candy of the Normal servers too much to give it up! See you up there!

My wife and kids take all my time and the work. And yeah see you to upp there. Or hmm the most of the time i am down there.
BraveSirRobin Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 56 here, and flying on Normal servers. Can't log the hours of practice necessary to survive on the Expert servers... If you are flying a Russian aircraft you probably have a better chance of surviving on the Expert server. Hiding is much more difficult on the Normal server.
Chuck_Owl Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Hold the brake button and use your rudder to turn. That's how the Russian aircraft do it. The Germans use toe brakes, so left brake pedal will make you turn left and vice versa for the right brake pedal. Make sure you throttle up a bit to generate enough thrust to make the aircraft move forward.

Walkyrje Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Turning 42 the end of this month and prefer the "normal" servers. Been playing the old Il-2 in "full real" with a squad for some time a few years back and have come to enjoy the icons and the external views. But I do sincerly miss the complex engine management, since I learned how to start my P-51 in DCS the "full real way" Hopefully there'll be the possibilty to mix the "Normal" setting with CEM in the future. A buddy and me are flying on the "US Normal" server almost every sunday evening between 1900 and 2100 CET. Ser deg snart?! Hehe. Are you playing with the p-51 online on dcs ? I love that plane. But i think they need to chance out the graphic engine soon. Ja vi sees snart
No_85_Gramps Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 It's great to see the age range of the members. I'll be 62 in Dec and my first flight sim was F15 Strike Eagle on an Atari 800 back in the mid-eighties. I've flown a lot of them over the years but only ROF and now BOS in the last year or so. So if you see my plane limping along you'll know why... I never really got into the MP side but recently I have made a couple of flights in MP, and I'm enjoying it!
DeafBee Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Hey Walkyrje. Jump on our 19te Team speak server. Our TS address is 192.223.28.140 Flying together as a team is so much more fun and rewarding. I am Danish by the way but most of our 19te members are americans. Vi ses snart

I am a bit tired of playing with kids My first flight sim was something called solo flight on commodore 64. And i have allways been fasinated of planes. But mostly modern fighters and ww2 planes. See ya a round upp there .

Unlike on normal servers there are no icons and people cant know you are there until they actually see you. Flying BnZ style on normal servers IMO is actually not really possible since initial BnZ lives from the momentum of surprise. So my suggestion is: Get used to "expert" as soon as you can and actually learn it the right/hard way. Btw. Youre not the only gamergrandpa:) I am 40 already also:)

But i dont see the diferent of fi and friend,s when i am upp there in expert mode. My track ir are destroyed becouse of the dog. So i swear nearly all will kill me anny way It,s a bit boring to sircle around in a cloud to hide from you people
Chuck_Owl Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Walkyrje: Hop on teamspeak and get a wingman. You'll see, it'll make a whole world of difference.
SR-F_Winger Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) No TIR is an argument though. Cant it be repaired? Is the camera porked or just he reflector/Track clip? If the later then this can be easily/cheaply replaced. On the other hand you also could just set up some views on one or two coolies. Takes some time to get used to but i remember one of the best pilots in ROF to my time (i think it was Vaal or Viks) was using quickviews only. Edited May 2, 2014 by VSG1_Winger

The one you set on the monitor. I know it,s no excuse but. I am gonna do some flying on the expert server later in the evening. I dont care who kill me. Looks funnier without see the red and blue poles. Just to do some training. Btw if i fly a il2 in expert mode. Will the tail gunner be ai controlled there 2 ? Edited May 2, 2014 by Walkyrje
SR-F_Winger Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 have tzo pass on this last one. But i believe yes. No reason why he shouldnt.
Robs Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Yep luckily all the kids are getting their kicks in War Thunder... I'm 14. I never played at war thunder. And I love BoS
Charlo-VRde Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 With how little time I can put into being competent in MP, I feel like one of the amateurs in this video when I do get into an MP Server. Can 3 Olympic fencing masters fend off 50 amateur opponents? Charlo 2
