Stumble Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Who has had a go with Snowrunner? How do you compare it to Spintires/Mudrunner, and would you recommend it to others? My initial thoughts are this. This game should not be compared with spintires/mudruner, cause its such a different game! Almost everything about it I think is different from the other ones... This is less of an off road, have 'fun in the mud' type sim, but is instead a trucking/job simulator. It's pretty cool, and I think I would get into it, but it lacks what came with the other ones. The other games were some of the most fun I've ever had in MP. The only problem was running out of maps... so instead we had to start challenging ourselves a lot more! With not being able to teleport, and letting us only use the B-130 (old) and much more. We even started trying 2v2 races. Planning ambushes where we tip each other over or interfering with someone using the crane to crane on logs... the fun was endless!! But this game seems (I don't know yet, hence I use the word seems) a lot more limiting. Also, the game isn't made for steering wheels. I'm hoping they fix it in a future patch, but the steering only works 180 degrees (Compared to the full 900, and it just doesn't feel the same way that Spintires felt. That's a massive disappointment! However, my main concern is the way vehicles steer. Instead of turning with the front wheels, the whole body itself twists. Its a real weird and unnatural thing... But I have not seen anyone other then me criticize it for this. Maybe I'm blind!?!?!? Would love to hear your thoughts! Salute!
DetCord12B Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 No idea. It's on Epic... Anyway, this is fairly accurate from what I hear.

What's accurate about a truck designed to have a trailer fifth wheel sitting on the drive wheels, running around muddy roads with no weight on top of the traction wheels. Anyone who drove a car, or truck, in snow could call that BS. I have two friends who drive trucks and they both hate to drive without a trailer (weight) on snow,. Those eight wide tires on the back are like a sled in the winter, or on slippery muddy roads. They need a lot of weight on them to have proper grip. I carry a sack of sand in the trunk in the winter for better traction. Edited May 1, 2020 by Jaws2002

The forums and reddit are full of issues and game-breaking bugs which makes it clear that it wasn't ready for release.
Lusekofte Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 I driven trucks and cranes in extreme winter condition since 1986. I will go as far to say no way in hell I am buying a videogame and do it for free in my spare time. 1
OrLoK Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 i like it. its buggy but thats usual for a new game. i dont enjoy the missions but my friends do. i just drive and look for hidden stuff and generally try to break the physics (which are rather good) im happy to wait for full wheel support and bug fixes. my bugbear? little to no "life" in the game. it feels very apocalyptic. imho its a solid and interesting trucking sim.
MiloMorai Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Bob tailing is the most dangerous way to drive a truck.

Lusekofte Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 They had ice road truckers on visit here in Northern Norway. In wintertime. They where pretty lets say emotional after a trip narrow slippery roads with uphill. Many times with little to no visability. If you try going somewhere with the load other places than over the wheels with tractionit is game over 1
