SOLIDKREATE Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 They way that game is going they may start charging Eagles just to log in or they may impliment a premium server cue where if you want to play you have to pay.
TheNotoriousFNG Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 My experiences with War Thunder have been mostly negative. Aside from the graphics and "wow" factor, aircraft performance, effects and FM/DMs have left a rather bad taste in my mouth. The, quite frankly, stupid leveling system in order to unlock aircraft that aren't flying coffins in the online arena is frustrating. The whole system seems geared for "pay to win". I keep it around in hopes that it may turn into something enjoyable. Whenever I boot it up, I play for ~15 mins and then find myself loading up 1946 to actually play something that doesn't feel like an HD Blazing Angels remake. Just my 2 cents. 1
Creepermoss Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 With the way things are now, over at WT, I imagine we will continue to see entire squadrons migrate to IL-2: BoS. Which is good, as I will already know the guys shooting me down :D
SOLIDKREATE Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I hope people from WT come over. I will be one of them. I get paid on the 22nd and I WILL be buying the premium edition and my Combat rudder pedals.
=LD=Hethwill Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 WT dumped all realism it might have developed in exchange for a more popular approach to a non-sim gamer community. Still retains the "show" factor and you can identify the planes if you have a minimum of history background, but that is all. Latest build threw a bubble around each model, to accommodate the modules system, which had unforeseen consequences and planes came out of the production line with really odd behaviours. Plus having to buy modules for planes knowing that the model-variants had the modules integrated from production is absolutely ridiculous. ( and radiators for radials, injection systems for early merlin models, etc ) It is like adding a dent to a wheel in a machine. The machine won't work. Likewise you change a parameter in the flight model you must recalculate everything or it won't work properly any more. It is a air shooter.
CF-105 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Now, before we get a bit high and mighty about being more realistic than WT, keep in mind that WT put multiplayer first, and is really more of a realistic arcade game. I see lots of people make the misconception of more realistic=more better, and that there is a clear difference between us "simmers" and the "gamers". In reality, I play '46, BoS, and WT(arcade and "realistic", I prefer sim battles only in my sims), and I actually cut my teeth with '46, then moved on to WT. Also, it's an MMO, if you expected to not have to unlock planes, you were sorely mistaken.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Read the title, you missed the point of the topic. Why even revive it than? WT is a dead case for those flying Stalingrad anyway so it's not worth trying to convince them. MP action? Oh, you mean the 20 guys playing sim battles at prime time I see. Yes, almost as much as in BoS....
johncage Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 it's not a sim. end of story. the "sim mode" is just marketing speak to get people who don't normally indulge in simplified arcade shooters to play the game.
