I'm trying to land Halby 2 seaters at Houplin on the Arras map, after bombing runs.

They're returning from Phalempin, and once close to the AF they bank West and fly a wide 270 deg arc around the back of the AF, to come in to land from the East.

Except instead of landing on the AF, they hit the ground and crash 200M short.

It doesn't seem to matter where I put the final waypoint, and more relevantly where I place the 'command land'.

They always do as above.

I've checked my old RoF logic for this and I'm sure I'm doing it the same way, is something different here ?

Salute !

Do you have a Target link from the last waypoint to the Land Command. Is your Land Command object linked to the planes that have to land.

Check also that your land command has been 'set to ground'

Thanks chaps !

Yes the links are in place.

I'm sure the LC was 'set to ground' originally, I think I may have put '0' manually since.

I'll check that later on, re-set it to 'ground' if necessary and report back.

Follow Up :

The landing commands are 'set to ground' but no difference.

It doesn't matter where I pace the land command, they're always crashing in exactly the same spot - as detailed in the OP.

I just moved the land commands 1km away from the AF and the planes are still manouvering exactly the same !

The commands' directional indicator is making no difference either.

I'll do some tests with different maps / planes, but if anyone can think of anything meantime...

Check your fakefield set up for the airbase.
If you have edited the chart then make sure your 2nd VPP or land point is in or near the center of the field.
If you have only placed the Fakefield on the airbase then put it in the center of the field and have it facing whichever way you wish the aircraft to land.

If you've done this and the aircraft still will not land then check the wind setting. Too much and the aircraft may be having problems.

Other than that. Check the Tech Problem forum. Perhaps this is a problem with the aircraft or the base terrain itself.

Good Luck with your Mission Design.

Good advice Tip.

FYI, see Notes on AI Taxi, Takeoff, and Landing. Note that some of the...notes...may have issues, which are discussed in the rest of the thread. Someday, I'll do more testing and tweak the notes.

These Taxi-ing stuff From your manual really is very useful.

Been messing it according your manual and  3 Ju52 planes: the third one always refuses to take off and gets stuck at the first VVP.

I was told elsewhere that this was a bug with larger planes ... the same setup with a Bf109F4 works fine.

I will test this tomorrow, and see if there is an issue with JU52. I did with HE111 and it works, but the JU52 has a large wingspan so maybe this is a problem.

No, it's not the wingspan, all 3 by pass all obstacles OK, (in the beginning that was so), and only 3 gets stuck here, the other 2 take off alright ... :
