I am finding COD so difficult to get it how I want it.

1 I have a white box in the top left hand side of the screen how do i get rid of it.

2 How can I turn on or off the plane icons

3 The repeating voice overs I tried turning the voice sound down but still there.

4 How can I turn off all the messages and just have a plane in the sky.

Over the years so much has been done to improve it but it seems the obvious has been missed for the new first timer it would be a real miss and would just move on and that is a shame as this sim has so much to offer there is no other BOB sim as good as this.

1. Press and hold Alt, left mouse click on the window to select it, right mouse click and click  'close window'

2. Options, Realism, Visual Aids, check 'No object icons' to switch them off. (Should be done before the mission starts)

3.  I have Music and Voice in the audio options both unchecked and at zero (all left). That stops the voices in my head.

4. Same way as item 1. Alt, left mouse click in the general area where the messages appear, window should show up, then you can close it ... Possibly some messages may still show up though, if the mission builder put them in, or from a host/server in multiplayer...

Have Fun!

(There is a more elaborate way to play with the icon settings, by means of an .rcu file.

Create a file named 'icon.rcu' using notepad, and for example put this in:

mp_dotrange FRIENDLY DOT 25.000 COLOR 0.001 RANGE 0.005 TYPE 0.005 ID 0.005 NAME 1.000
mp_dotrange FOE DOT 25.000 COLOR 0.001 RANGE 0.005 TYPE 0.005 ID 0.005 NAME 0.005

Next use notepad to edit the file named rcu and add this command to it: file icon.rcu)

The Info window can also be made transparent... and it can display important information when looking at the gauges is difficult.

Right click on the info window and select 'Customize Info Window'... then change the transparency and move the elements you want over to the window.

If the window has been there for a while, you need to create a new info window to shut down the first one.... right click to create, then shut down both.
