Saw this today on TVAL's website. A real, real shame.

Sad news! I very much hope this is just a temporary shutdown.

This isn't as bad as I expected.  When I saw the topic I was worried that another enthusiast had been killed by one of their planes.

Will be if people don't follow the advice of doctors and scientists. Stop going to the damn beaches and hanging out like a bunch of walruses.

The ambiguous syntax makes it hard to tell what they're telling us.

It looks like the court case surrounding Gene DeMarco selling one or more of TVAL’s aircraft and pocketing the cash has opened up the company for wider investigation.  Peter Jackson’s other company, Wingnut Wings has closed down also.

To me it reads cost control. They probably let go most of the staff related to production, retaining just those needed for maintenance. The vintage flying season has just ended in NZ and winter is coming.

The court case was a while back and they didn't make any such announcement till now, so I don't think it's directly related.

However it's clear when reading more deeply into the case that operational costs could well have been under pressure prior to that and PJ started looking into cost control himself, which led to discoveries, and ultimately the charges.

It's bad news either way, whether shorter term or longer term. TVAL was making some very nice reproductions, including reproduction parts, gauge, etc. It seemed to be a very high quality level of reproduction aircraft. Hopefully things will improve once this whole thing passes.

“For the foreseeable future” makes it sound more like a temporary thing.
