Should there be a tactics forum?

I'm not sure if this would be something the community could or would be interested in.  I think some folks who may be newer to armor vehicle conflict would benefit from it.  People who transition from things like World of Tanks and War Thunder would very likely benefit from it.  For instance, how do you kill a Tiger with a T-34?  You certainly don't go toe to toe and start trying to punch it in the face.  And if you do, you certainly don't repeatedly try head to head, slugging it out face to face, because you will continuously die.  T-34 has some advantages over Tiger that may or may not be obvious.  Reload is pretty fast.  Turret traverse is definitely pretty fast.  Maneuverability is pretty decent, and acceleration is nice.  You need to get to the sides or rear of the Tiger.  Or get close, because if you want to punch through the front, you better be close, but don't get seen pushing up the front of the Tiger.  Yes, you will be well within the lethal range of the Tiger, but the closer you get, the harder you are for the Tiger to hit, especially if he's been tracked and can't move.  I know she's a beast.  She's not invincible though.

I fought a pair of (I believe) T-34s last night, and they had it partially right, but only partially.  From my perspective, I had a T-34 at my 10/11 and another at my 1/2 positions.  I took damage.  I was immobilized, my commander dead, bow gun out, radio operator, gunner and driver injured.  Both tracks out, gearbox damaged, etc., but these T-34s remained in their assumed positions instead of further flanking my position.  They paid the price for not flanking me.  Staying at a 10 and 2 position around 1000-1400 meters keeps you just far enough away to not completely knock the Tiger out, but you're well within the Tigers kill box.  It isn't impossible, it just takes some doing.  Yes, the Tiger is a beast, but shouldn't be excluded from servers because you have a tough time with it.  What ever will you do if the Tiger II is ever introduced?

On 7 July 1943, a single Tiger I tank commanded by SS Oberscharfuehrer Franz Staudegger from the 2nd Platoon, 13th Panzer Company, 1st SS Panzer Regiment LSSAH engaged a Soviet group of some 50 T-34 tanks around Psyolknee in the southern sector of the Battle of Kursk. Staudegger used up his entire ammunition supply and destroyed 22 Soviet tanks, while the rest retreated.

I am new to the forums, and to IL-2 Tank Crew.  Absolutely not new in any respect to armored warfare.  I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield.

I think a thread like this one for starters is fine. I usually drive a T-34. Absolutely critical to track the Tiger then attack in flank. Overcoming ambushes playing offence is the most difficult task. Pretty well impossible or very difficult to spot a tank in deep trees a few meters from the forest edge. If you have someone providing overwatch that can spot his smoke after he fires then he can be targeted, but of course one of you is likely to be dead. It reminds me a little of the part in "The Hobbit" where the dwarves are stepping out in the light of the trolls campfire and getting bagged one at a time.
