Non-Steam game fails to launch after update with Oculus Rift S

Hi all

 

I have been struggling with this for a few days post-update now after I have been playing without issues for months. The game will load initially and then will freeze at about 90% loading (the little red bar at the bottom). For some reason when I initialize, SteamVR wants to open and run. Could that be it?

 

System Specs:

Oculus Rift S

GeForce 1660ti

i5 4760k

16gb ram

1tb HD

 

Oculus firmware updated, Windows up to date, and SteamVR up to date.

Any ideas anyone? Getting desperate...

A little help from the support staff would be appreciated, just dropped a bunch of money on this stuff a month ago.

No harm done starting SteamVR before launching the game and see if that helps. When tested Varjo VR had to run SteamVR before launching game. Also using a non-Steam version.

Thank you Flanker! I will try that today, also going to delete the game and reinstall once my ISP stops throttling me...
