Purely anecdotal. However some do seem to like running tests.  2 anecdotes proves nothing.  2 in 5 missions is suggestive though and it deals with the lovely new dm

Example 1...

After some kills I was using my last 13mm to chip at a p47 hoping for a pk or idk. Well it was like my first kiss except noone had 30mms at my homecoming (it was before the school shooter age) so i got too close and edged up he edged down and we collided. Oh and yeah first kiss wasnt a he. But anyways. This is where it gets interesting.  We were going about 400 km/h or 250 mph.

Enough for my 190D to de wing and fall flaming.  The p47? It didnt even go into a spin! No damage!!

Got my attn but ok proves nada.

Example 2.

QM 4 262s vs 8 b25s.  Similar sorta situation except the speeds are insane now. Im in a head on pass pull too much trying to hit him when I should have given up and realigned for another attack and barely missed a collision!

Or so I thought. I mean.. i didnt crash and literally was going about 700 kmh plus his speed. I thought it "felt" I wanged something but.. no damage. Then my character shouted " Im wounded!" And I F2'd and that B25 is spiraling earthward on fire, dewinged.  Im certain I didnt hit him at all... with cannons.

J/S someone MAY wanna check into collisions and damage.

Otherwise gotta say LOVE the new model.  The newer likelihood of a big boom is nice and seems about spot on. See many more fires which I saw a lot more of in gun cam footage so that seems right. I also noticed fires in places I never noted b4 but I know had fuel cells IRL which is a great sign to me as well.

If only they could look at the engines.

I climbed into a HS 129 with my LA 5 and props bent on my aircraft and HS 129 left engine. My canopy was blow off but both was able to control the aircraft and force land. 
Pretty cool , it was a hard impact and I expected to be blown to peaces, but in retrospect I found it very realistic. 
P 47 is a very sturdy plane and should come off a collision with a fw 190 in better state if not too violent. And this I ask for continue. It is one of the things going for it.

And the 262 unscratched but pilot wounded somehow and b25 dewinged flaming plunging to earth?

Also again no prob the p47 came out better but unscratched? It was a midair collision!

There will be no perfect DM.  I seen worser out come online. It is no way you will get all things perfect

My point is only that I also seen and experienced just as many realistic collisions

Collision modeling is always going to be weird. There’s a lot being calculated simultaneously and the forces involved aren’t straightforward. I’m just glad that the new DM has produced a much better airframe and engine damage model in terms of ammunition types.

Did you make a track of the 262 encounter?

I was thinking about that sad Brazilian 737 crash when it got dewinged by private jet in a headon collision with the wings. The private jet just kept flying and they did not even know they had collided with a plane until they were interrogated once on the ground. All they lost was a fraction of the wingtip.

it was totally unexpected just fing around in qmb.

the fw190 was in jades airfield mission.

it was weird because i really thought a bombers stray .50 rnd hit my airplane.  Or maybe debris. It didnt seem seriois at all and I would have forgotten about it if my ai guy hadnt screamed "ahh Im wounded!!"

I thought "wtf is this malingerer doing little late to play sick" but sure enough a b25 was screaming earthward.. dewinged and in flames
