Hi all, as Ive been playing more sims I've enjoyed using vr touch controls to 'grab' and control the throttle and stick with them, and with some software I am able to completely remap all the buttons on my oculus touch into keybinds, essentially making them into a mini HOTAS (in fact I have managed to map a playable IL-2 to it, but controlling yaw and pitch with the thumb stick feels awful!) I've always been fond of IL-2 owning pretty much everything bar Normandy

Using a touch controller feels really natural in all honesty, in another sim you position your hand over the stick and squeeze the grip button to 'hold' because youre holding the controller roughly where the stick is in the actual aircraft, you end up being able to easily make fine adjustments due to your spacial awareness in the cockpit

Sure it has its quirks but I dont have a good area to sim anymore, especially with the pc sat in the front room, I either have to balance a hotas on my lap or have to set it up with the wheelstand but after a long day at work it's just hassle, the convenience of just popping the headset on and the controllers in my hand is great! What started off as something I was using due to circumstance turned into something far more fun and enjoyable than I would have thought.

I'm not one to have followed the news much but has anyone heard of anything like this being planned? Would you want it as an option?

Pretty sure VR controls and interactive cockpits are not part of the plan. Even as a VR user myself, I can't say I blame them to be honest. VR is still niche in a genre that is itself niche, so it would be a lot of work which few would end up using. Also, while holding virtual sticks in VR is kind of cool, it's nowhere near as versatile and precise as a physical HOTAS. In a dogfight it isn't long before your real hand is miles away from the virtual hand holding the cockpit controls, and having to look down for orientation isn't very practical.
