recon28501 Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Hello All, I'm having no luck getting the P-38 off the ground. I give it just enough throttle to get her moving then counter with rudder and it spins out. What am I doing wrong? I don't have this issue with any other aircraft.
Alexmarine Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 First of all: ensure that you are giving throttle imput to both engines, could it be that there is an issue with your imput bindings and you are only increasing throttle on one engine. Second: when aligned with runway remember to roll forward a little more to ensure that the front wheel is aligned 1
recon28501 Posted April 16, 2020 Author Posted April 16, 2020 Thanks for the response. First: I bet that is the issue because I just remapped my controls. I would have never thought about that. I’ll check it out. Second: I will keep that in mind as well. I really appreciate your response!!!
Ribbon Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 (edited) rpm/prop pitch? Edited April 16, 2020 by EAF_Ribbon
recon28501 Posted April 16, 2020 Author Posted April 16, 2020 I don’t use any engine management. Wish I was that knowledgeable lol. I only had the throttle mapped to Engine 1. Thanks guys!!!!

You set the prop pitch to 2600 rpm for normal cruise and use the throttle as usual. When you get into combat, you increase the rpm to almost max and full throttle. Everything else is automatic, and once you get used to it, it's simple. The up side is you get slightly better performance if you pay attention to it.
Feathered_IV Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I use a lot of left and right brakes using the “<“ and “>” keys. That keeps the P-38 on a straight line for me.

You mean prop RPM, not pitch. ☝️? @recon28501 Complex Engine Management isn't too hard to learn and very rewarding once you do, I highly recommend you check out The Air Combat Tutorial Library on YouTube, great way to learn.

I really appreciate your response!!! Should be easy to know for sure; just check the rpm gauge. One would show rising rpms and the other would stand still. Edited April 18, 2020 by danielprates
