Hello, i´m playing a He 111 Battle of Stalingrad career. After a few mission, we now have 2x 1000kg Bombs loaded to destroy a bridge, but my AI Wingman are unable to take off. They are rolling with full speed, but it seems the Planes are to heavy. A few hundred meters behind the airfield they come to a stop. Few with noses up other with broken main gear unable to take part in the mission.

Possibly the fuel load is too much for the planes to take off with that much ordnance. The He-111 has pretty good range and probably does not need full fuel to reach most targets on the Stalingrad map. Are you squadron leader? Can you adjust the fuel load of your squadmates planes?

Especially, as in Battle of Stalingrad you are flying the H6 with its additional internal fuel tank in the bomb bay, which gives it quite some extra weight compared to the H16.

Same kind of experience every now and then. I'm using the excellent PWCG and in my bombing campaign I have had to give a little bit up on the immersion and instead of cold start (absolutely impossible in some airfields for the AI to even taxi in decent time fully loaded) or even a runway start (due to the fact that the AI usually just hits the trees before managing to get up in air) I nowadays just do air starts.

Even in this case I keep the fuel load at minimum. I don't think there's any map where you would need more than 40% to get to your target with full heavy bomb load and back to home base. Even 40% is quite much...

I'll have a look at the fuel loads of the He 111 (and Ju 88) and adjust them as necessary. Agreed that the current default 100% is too much right now.

Yep just tested this out too. I was not squad leader.

My default fuel load was 96% and was just able to take off but the AI wasn't able to.

Apparently Ai in Il2 has nothing to do with Artificial Intelligence ...  you could check waypoint height and speed settings maybe.

Why the way points are set by career mode and are automatically generated. Even if its wrong its still a bug that needs to be fixed.

It has nothing to do with waypoints or bad AI. As I wrote above, the fuel loads will be adjusted so the AI can properly take off with these very heavy bomb loads.

I am also having a similar problem but all the AI aircraft crash on take off. I have found a work around by allowing all the aircraft in front of me to take off before I move. Once they are airborne I can then take off. There is a bit of catching up to do but it works. However, this is not how it should be so I hope there is a solution at some stage.

Hi

Was this fixed in the latest update? Didn't see it in the patch notes.
