Crump Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) Now however we are learning all about how to land with tundra tires and such... Bottom line is none of the "proof" of the FW-190 being wheel landed is not proof of anything. What the Luftwaffe Veterans like Oskar Bösch said about always three pointing the design holds true. My opinion would go with their experience over the cacophony. Edited May 3, 2014 by Crump
DD_bongodriver Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 other than the proof showed the original 190 landing in a wheeler attitude and the world not exploding. 1
AndyJWest Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 ... Unrelated, seaplanes tend to use taildragger techniques but I, for the life of me, I couldn't tell you how I land a Lake amphibian - that thing is so awfully backward in its throttle/pitch reaction I feel good just finally opening my eyes and seeing I'm on the water or a runway. One the funnest airplanes I've ever flown, though (and the airplane most likely to bring you into contact with bikini wearing girls :D). ... what was this thread about ... ? If you ever get the chance, try landing the Rise of Flight Felixstowe F.2A - it seems to respond to the throttle backwards too. The high-mounted engines cause an initial pitch down when you open the throttle, and a pitch up when you close it. Most disconcerting. Fortunately, it is seldom necessary to land the thing in a tight spot, so you can come in with a nice shallow descent and minimise the throttle/elevator movements. Not that this has anything to do with landing the Fw 190 - but it does indicate that you need to match the landing technique to the aircraft.

So veterans' experience matters when, if adequately distorted, it suits your point. I see... The truth is that like majority of single engine taildraggers, it can be landed in both ways. You should know, you're a trainer, right?
1CGS LukeFF Posted May 3, 2014 1CGS Posted May 3, 2014 ... what was this thread about ... ? I've been wondering that as well for about the past 3 or 4 pages. 1

TJT Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 "Synonymous with "shooting fish in a barrel," relating to doing a task, often involving hunting or destroying an enemy, that is painfully easy." I suspect Spectre is thinking its going to be an uber ride.......
