taffy2jeffmorgan Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Hi All. The more that i fly BoS, the more i like the way that the development team have en-devoured to portray Stalingrad in the grip of winter, it looks stark and foreboding. So i wonder what it must have really like, this "Hell on Earth" as its often been described, It was regarded as punishment and an almost death sentence to be sent to the Russian front. I remember reading in one account of Stalingrad, that you could often tell by the faces of those lucky enough to be home on leave, for they where the boys with the dead vacant look!! If anyone is interested in reading about this "Hell on Earth" one of the best [an i have read many books on the subject] is Stalingrad, The Fateful Siege, 1942 to 1943, by Antony Beevor. So when your flying think of all those poor infantry, both German and Russian, freezing to death down there ! Cheers. JM. 1
