Guest stanmelba Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Hi, I purchased the IL2 to see if the VR improve the game experience. I have played the previous versions okay with the logitech Extreme 3D PRO. With the new IL2 I find mapping the buttons causes a loss of the mouse cursor. Which make it impossible to continue. Further, I am not sure if I can map the ACER Mixed reality headset controllers. from my experience they do not seem to be active in the game. Mapping the Logitech controller makes no difference and it does not seem to work in the game. What is the best way to set the graphics to prevent the ACER head set to turn of or black in the game? This happened after a few minutes while trying to find buttons that work somewhere. Is there anyone that can help with information on the setting up and mapping of the buttons so that the Extreme 3D PRO can be used. In steam a Xbox game controller displays and I have no idea how those work and how the buttons are to be map in relation to the joystick. If this fails I would like to return the game because there is no way to play the game through steam as far as I can see. Please help. Thanks in advance. Stan
RedKestrel Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 I'm not really sure what is going on here for you - it seems you have two separate issues. One is mapping buttons to your joystick, the other is getting your VR headset to work. You say that mapping buttons causes the mouse cursor to disappear. What do you mean by that? So if you click on a function in the Key Mapping options, the cursor disappears? The process for mapping a button in Il-2 is pretty straightforward. Click on the function you want to bind to the joystick. Then, when the option comes up. press the button on the joystick you want to use for the function. For some functions, like RPM control or radiator settings, you have to set one button to increase and one button to decrease. If the assignment is for an axis control, all you have to do is click the function and then move the axis you want to use (so for throttle, for example. click the throttle button then move the throttle wheel on the joystick to bind it). I think that the mouse cursor normally disappears when you click a key to bind it. I believe it reappears once you have set the binding to a button and enables you to hit OK. So try clicking a function, binding it to a button on your joystick by clicking the joystick button, and see if the cursor reappears. I'm not sure that the game supports the mixed reality controllers - since their inputs are through the headset itself, it's likely that the game doesn't see them as game controllers. How are the controllers shown in the Windows devices list? As separate controllers, or as part of the headset?
