Venturi Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Hello, the M2 Browning uses a long recoil lockup system, and as such, the barrel ought to recoil during firing. You can look out the window and see the barrel tips protruding past the barrel tubes on at least the P-40 and P-51. These do not move while firing. i would recommend as a possible enhancement to the in-cockpit experience, to model barrel recoil on these weapons where the barrel is normally visible. Also, independent rates of fire for each weapon is recommended. 1
Art-J Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) Two corrections. 1) M2 is a short recoil system weapon, just like all Browning machine guns from that era - its barrel and bolt unlock after about 10 mm of back movement; 2) Can't see barrel tips on the P-40, as it uses additional barrel tubes, like the P-47. Tips can be seen on Mustang indeed, but I'd rather see developers fixing more noticeable cockpit issues, like missing components (for example mixture lever on Spit IX, or inertia starter pedal on P-40). All you have left is the slow-running cut out switch to shut down the engine. Otherwise, it is always internally set on "run". 1

II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 So, what you are all (combined) saying is; it's all either there or really close. ?
Venturi Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 The outer 2 gun barrels visibly move on the mustang. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=niJ82YCiuYU 1
Danziger Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 The wheels are a bit off on the P40 3d model as well. The wheel to tire ratio is off with tires too far and wheels too small. There was a thread ages ago showing some other 3d stuff but I can't find it.

But in that case I wouldn't mind the pit in the sim being thoroughly updated in the same way, with relevant switch model and animation added.

The major problem is that the oleo legs are too long when the bird is on the ground. This results in too much of a "nose up" of the P-40. The oleo legs should be almost completely compressed. 2
SYN_Luftwaffles Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Hopefully when you're firing the guns you're watching the guy you're shooting at and not the wings ??? 2 1
US63_SpadLivesMatter Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 The wind sock at such-and-such airfield is out of position by 1.17 meters to the southeast.
