KylerHolland Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 O7, pilots! So, yesterday in an offline quick mission I was practicing my shooting skills. I was on low six of my enemy who was 600 meters away. I started firing single shots... And I noticed that my projectile doesn't seem to actually hit the enemy when I see a burst on him. It just passes very very close to him but he gets damaged. Is this normal? How does this actually implemented in the game?
AndyJWest Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Not every round is tracer. I'd be surprised if you can actually fire a single shot, and more likely you are hitting with a non-tracer round. At 600 m there is going to be a degree of spread, which could account for the tracer missing. 3

Additionally, I don’t think it is modeled in game but IRL tracer ammo had a slightly different ballistics than normal ammo.

It is modeled. Every bullet type in the belt has slightly different trajectory. Even IL-2: Forgotten Battles modeled this. 2 2

FlyingH Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 To get a better understanding of yoyr shooting skills you should DL Tackwiev and record your efforts, then study them in that application. It´s a really helpful app to hone your skills. 1
Sublime Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 I often do quick pulls and shoot one or 2 roynds. Often no tracer. The rounds are stull there. Want more proof? Take la5fn or anything you can pick the ammo select all AP. No tracers. Since new DM ive noted more fires. More explosions but appropriate level and not super catastrophic - like a wing fuel cell detonating snapping the wing and seeing the plane yaw hard in reaction. Im also certain when diving on a 109 and I hit it at a near 90 degree anglw with a long burst in the tail the enemy plane actually "skidded" and veered to the right for a second. It was the first time in game Id seen the effect described by p47 pilots of hitting with all 8 .50s but it could have been a chance
Lusekofte Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) I have many times figured I missed a plane because of the tracers. But hit them anyway. I did not know tracers had different trajectory but after all these misses that proved to be hits I figured the spread of the guns took care of the planes more than my accuracy. thanks for boosting my confidence, after all it seems like I can hit something Edited April 12, 2020 by 216th_LuseKofte 1 1
novicebutdeadly Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I'm usually just happy that I hit them, I don't question how it happened 1
