The cockpit is still unusable in 3d vision but if you set low graphics, 5% convergence, and fly with your head out of the canopy preferably in a Yak and moderate to overcast the effect is breathtaking ( if not a bit noisy). Here's hoping that the devs will bring back 3D vision support soon. Their focus seems to be on OR if the start file is any indication.

Cheers,

DK2 oculus version is not the defenitive version , also everybody can' t buy it now .

other than about the cloud  when the sun is Under the cloud ( begining of the day or end of the day ) , the bottom should be red and not white as in the game

Your right the DK2 isn't the definitive version, but anyone "can" preorder the DK2 now that's due out in a couple of months.  That said it would probably be a good idea to wait for the first consumer version which could be cheaper, and with better specs.  I've preordered  the DK2, as I have a feeling the CV1 won't come out until sometime next year.  If, as they've mentioned, they sell the CV1 at cost, it won't be that much of cost hit next year to upgrade.

Braver man than I; I'm going to wait out until the CV1 in the hope that they really push the boat out with the specs now that FB are picking up the tab. i don't want to end up with yet more outdated tech gathering dust in the loft...^^

JG27_Chivas , it's exactly that I say , if you buy it now you are  obliged to buy another one  next year , the expensive old version will be resold at low price , all of that is expensive

also not sure that DK2 version  is good for simu , because of not suffisant resolution and for example : look at the horizon to see ennemy

No problem, I'll probably buy a new version of the Oculus Rift or other VR every couple of years depending on the specs, just like I do with other PC hardware.

DCS just added Oculus Rift support today.  Hopefully BOS will have it on release aswell.

yes in futur we can expect that resolution will be suffisant , but actualy  it' s not the time to entirely forget 3dvision .

apparently developers had limited the startup.cf options  and certainly 3dvision will be available again .

Just do it like i did with my DK1. Just sell the DK2 on ebay as soon as word spreads when CV1 will be released and youll even maybe make some gain with it.

I sold my DK1 on ebay for 400 Euros short before DK2 was officially announced:)

Next year for a consumer version of OR?

It has begun. Mark Zuckerturd is taking a page out of Steve Robs on how to make the most profits while simultaneously punching the product and consumer in the d**k.

Personally I think the CV1 will be delayed a few months, because FB's money will allow the OR to develop, and contract out better components for the first consumer release.  The development is still talking about providing the OR at cost.  The only thing that could hurt them is another developer beating them to the market, but I don't see any of the other developments like Sony, or the Totem VR, etc being ready anytime soon, to release a consumer version.  We should have a better idea on the OR and its competitors states of readiness during E3 in June.

I'm using Tridef 3d and it works perfectly. I should make a you tube vid in 3d so you guys can see how it looks. 3d with head tracking is really something.

There is a video where the lead tech guy for Occulus explains that to get the equivalent quality of graphics of a current single 1080p screen from Occulus, requires something like the equivalent 15x 1080p screens worth of graphics processing for 100-degrees of vision or more. That's a lot.

Er, yeah. And it it's true the OR would be about as much use to gamers as a chocolate teapot. I currently run my monitor at 2560 x 1600 (30") and at ultra settings I'm on the edge of consistently viable FPS. That's in the ball-park of x2 1080p, never mind x15.

I suspect something's been lost in technical translation.

perhaps good in  fact ,  4k is around 4 x hd and perhaps will be not suffisant for occulus or not to much ,   also 8k = 4 x 4 x hd

I made video in 3d and uploaded it to youtube but the problem is I have to record in side by side which halves the resolution and then after it is compressed and reformatted the res goes even lower.

But it I'm running it at 1600x900 on my monitor at 50-60 fps

can anybody play this back on their 3d monitor?

it's  3d anaglyph ,  I have not glasses for that , also and sorry but perhaps  it's not the best advertising for 3d

Thanks for the reply. You tried to watch it on a 2d monitor without even anaglyph glasses eh. Well I'm not surprised it didn't work. I'm really more interested in someone with a 3d monitor playing it back. I have a passive 3d interleaved monitor and I can choose interleaved in the optionsand and it works but the low resolution sucks. Any way I made another test. This is recorded in 1080p side by side mode which s the  highest I can record unless I can figger out how to record while playing in 3d which would solve the res issude and be pleasant to fly.

I d'ont try to watch your anaglyph video , what I know is that 3d active 120hz is better .( also  in the past I tried anaglyh )

I have 120hz 3d monitor with active glasses compatible with 3dvision2 nvidia
