Anyone seeing a big FPS drop?

EDIT:  Yes I found that the update had turned on 'HMD VR On'   

I also had a ton of steam and steamVR udates last week which screwed with a bunch of different settings.

I also noticed some micro stutters. Happened in the past too, after big updates. And just when they fixed stutters with the update before the last one - here they are again. Though, they arent severe and not always present and not in all MP missions. Cant wait for them to switch the game engine. If it will be of any help. This one struggles in mp. SP is super smooth no matter the mission settings.

Barely had the chance to do any MP. All of this (stuttering) was/is in SP.

I have no stutter now but had it before in SP. I find that SP is more likely to stutter than MP

I had a lot of stutters in Kubanmap havoc over kuban campaign until a patch earlier than latest. 
some of the missions had low flying over mountains with low clouds.

Bodenplatte map, 2x4 vs 2x4 with medium overcast clouds. All I did was testing the new DM in QMB. No campaign, no MP.

 

Micro and 1s stutters since this patch.

For me, also flying in VR with a 5700x, I noticed lot's of stuttering that went away when I turned off the hud. Made a really massive difference. And also forced me to actually read my instruments, so double win I guess? Not sure if that helps with your problems, but other than that I'm not having any unexpected behaviour performance wise.

That make sense. I do not use hud

HUD is negatively affecting FPS from day one of my experience with this game. It did not change for the better with any of the patches and improvements.

 

Turning it off can yield up to 10 FPS boost. Not an option since I use chat and other features.

Ive only just reinstalled the game. Last played it on the day BoBP was released. The perfomance is lower for sure but I really dont get how people are able to play at 45fps. I really need vsync and about 60 fps (60hz Tv). Anything else i find really distracting with uneven frame pacing etc.  I dunno if that just me or im missing something all these years.

There was a huge lag in Berloga Server due to all the impacts I'm afraid.

If you turn off the compass and only keep the techchat and chat it still will make a difference

Techno chat only HUD doesn't work in MP last I checked (correct me if I'm wrong) and this is where I spend most of my flight simming time.

Could you elaborate on that?  I use Technochat-Only in MP and have not noticed any issues.  Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you said or I have not realised that some aspect is not working right.

I have switched off compass and in my mind that improved my pc performance. I fly with only chat and some times tech chat I some times do not have either if chat getting ugly.

I will say again, correct me if I'm wrong - but doesn't pressing default "H" remove all HUD and techno chat?

Honestly guys, I believe it is a limitation of the game engine, at least partly. Others have explained it better so you are welcome to do a search, but the gist of it is that the game primarily uses a single core. Others cores are used somewhat, but there are spikes in single core usage when stuff is loaded when it comes into render range. It seems to happen very quickly, you can't really see it hardware monitoring go to 100, but there are spikes in CPU usage. It's almost like a 'radar', when a plane pops into render range. I get it when I'm on the ground too, looking around after a fresh spawn as textures are loaded. I'm not an expect in these things but this is what I've been able to observe and others have given better explanations elsewhere

 

Perhaps the deferred rendering update will make some difference here. I expect that it will and that this is what they are working on
