Same skin, in the Skin viewer does not show it's reflections.

Edit: Most likely answer
Just going to wait for my GPU upgrade to check if it makes any difference or not.

Where you can see the reflection of the aircraft on itself and stuff, however in the skin viewer, when I try to preview my skin and what it's like so far, this is the result I get:

My question is, does the skin viewer use the Game's Config to show what it'll look like in game depending on your settings and etc? My GTS 450 can't do Ultra Graphics so it might be looking and exactly the finish I want but I'm not sure..

Thanks in advance

Skin Viewer!!??

Skin Viewer disappeared from my install with update many months ago. Now I can only preview just before mission start. What am I missing?

I did not know there was a skin viewer. Where should it be?

Yes I found it is there in the bin directory of the game install. I Have version 4.005 installed and it is there.

Excellent and works very well. Perfect tool to test skins.

Happy I am. ?

The skin viewer does use the game lighting engine, you just have to select the right lighting options.

In the light properties, select "Ambient". Then in the color menu, click on that rectangular box and select a light gray. here you can also test different shades of gray to see how the skin will look in different lighting conditions.

Other tips. You can move the plane around in the viewer with the right mouse button held down. Also you should push the plane away from you first with the mouse wheel and then zoom in with the zoom at the top of the window, so the plane doesn't look like seen through a fish eye lens.

It helps with calibrating the colors. I sometimes it give it a bit of orange hue to see how the skin would look at sunset. White also help to see if colors are not to bright and start glowing in strong light.

Bump as I've answered this question myself and posted the answer in the top, in case anyone manages to use the search feature and coincidentally asks this same question.

I think you got your answer, but I'm going to say that NO, it doesn't.

The viewer is good at checking where you line stuff up on your skin, but as far as lighting goes and how the game treats reflections and such, the view does not.

Often times I've had nice reflections in the viewer, only to see them as way overdone in game. The two are not exactly to the same in my experience.
