cardboard_killer Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 "The Armée de l’Air orders several advanced aircraft into development on or about this date [80 years ago]. The Sud-Est SE-100 is a fast fighter and ground attack aircraft with six 20mm cannon in the nose and two aft for the rear gunner. The Arsenal VB-10 is a heavy interceptor with two 1,150 hp engines driving contra-rotating propellers for a top speed of 435 mph and armed with four 20mm cannon forward. No aircraft will be delivered until after the war." 2
Vig Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 French design - you love it or you hate it. Either way it's interesting. 1

It looks like it's back is broken.

Vig Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 I'm no aeronautical engineer but it does appear that it might be spin-prone. It is a fascinating design, though. I wonder how it might do as a single-seater? 1

How many of those ass busting twins did the French buy after WWII? Damn few if any I'll bet. It looked like an obsolete design in 1939/40. Archaic in 1945/46. 1
cardboard_killer Posted April 8, 2020 Author Posted April 8, 2020 I think they were buying P-47s and F8Fs after the war. 1
Vig Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I actually sort of like the looks of it, and I'm just guessing about its stability. If it were offered as a premium plane I would buy it. I might even buy the Arsenal VB-10 if it came with a ladder. 1

The French didn't makes planes after WW2? Someone forgot to tell this man https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcel_Dassault
