=FSB=Man-Yac Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 I find that clouds have little impact on the game currently. And by little I mean compared to its real life counter part. First for getting rid of someone on your tail going in a cloud can help, however it's not difficult not to lose track of the plane because you can see its prop through the cloud. Second part is it's impact on the plane when you fly through it. Air should be ( depending on the cloud) more turbulent and flying through it or near it dangerous for inexperienced pilot. Flying below could get you sucked in into it and I heard in some cases even flip the plane upside down. Imagine a cb extending several thousand meters up and having to fly around it. I am probably getting carried away but it would be nice for clouds to be revisited in the future ? 1 1
IRRE_Axurit Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Hi I would also like to see one day a more advanced weather system with the effects of vertical winds, dynamic clouds that must be bypassed, localized rain and visibility effects. Or even the appearance of cloudy areas near the summits on Kuban depending on different parameters of temperature, hydrometry, winds etc. It is true that the sky in which we evolve requires the same attention as the surface of a circuit in a simu racing car. But it seems that the game engine has limits with that. But maybe someday they will get there, as they have come to solve other major problems. Like one day when we will see aircraft carriers, the state of the sea will be of great importance. 1
[TDH]Meankitty731 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 In VR, Clouds play a HUGE role. Depending on the type and density, they can make your life a nightmare. In VR, the weather hits the windscreen and streaks down the sides. Its beautiful. I have lost many planes in the clouds. This game is old, its not like microshaft flight stimulator at all. I am just glad I have this game at thsi point. IN a day where computer gaming is more or less FPS games with 12 year olds running around. A true to life flight sim is much more enjoyable to me.
CountZero Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 They are no point in having them online, your easyer to be sean close to or in them, and when you think your avoiding enemy going trough them he can easy see you by your prop. I realy dont see point in having them in this game. 1
Guster Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 I find the clouds in IL-2 have an impact on performance that is neither proportionate with practical use nor aesthetics. I just don't think they look good enough to justify the stuttering and fps loss. Add to this the rather weird way planes render i front of them at certain distances. But this, and the fact that the series is called IL-2 Sturmovik are the only complaints I have with the product, and I admit the latter is utterly off-topic as well as quite idiosyncratic and irrational. To me this game is just not about that particular plane. I enjoy the game offline and without clouds, but I agree with the OP that the clouds have no practical use as they do in RoF where you can play hide and seek, even with the AI.
Ribbon Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 (edited) Yeah clouds have their problems but flying between two layer of clouds is by far the most impressive visual experience in il2! Edited April 6, 2020 by EAF_Ribbon 3

They dont look good enough compared to what other Flight Sim? In my opinion the clouds in this games are better than most other simulators.

I hate sounding like a hating hater, and there are at least dozen things about this game that I think are absolutely brilliant - the 3D-models, the flight models, the sensation of speed, the ballistics, the scenery, the sounds of engines and guns and I could go on and and on. 1
