Here we have a MiG-3 in the climb and whilst the dial is showing a tad under 4000m, the dashboard is showing 3623m. The ground (I think) was approx. 90m ASL, OAT -15c

Is this a known error? I have set QFE/Baro to 0 before take off. (LAlt+A)

Pretty sure my Moscow region airfield is not 370m ASL either. Not noticed this discrepancy flying other types.

Any ideas. I think this might be worth further investigation.

Now I've just done a 25 minute flight in a Mustang and it has the same error, but it's not as pronounced but still 7-8% under registering.

The altitude listed on the HUD is AGL (above ground level); fly over a mountain and you'll notice that your in plane altimeter won't change, but the in game HUD will get very low.
