It is a radio navigation option - it puts an instrument on your panel that shows you the direction to the nearest beacon, if placed by the mission designer. Check the tech specs of the A20 in the notes section for how it works.

Yeah just like the bendix etc.

Seriously I advise humans to always take these. Theres no penalty and it can be reaaaaally useful flying at 30 feet.. lol

Also some slick guys hit change radio channel to the other side and allegedly itll home in on radio AF beacons

Fyi if you see "bendix" its the same.

Does "change radio channel" cycle through all the beacons within range or just the nearest one on each side.  (In reality each beacon would have its own freq.)

It always points to the nearest one. Change radio channel has no effect on the direction finder.

Also, in career mode mission design always places the beacon on your own airfield.

In RL I only use the NDB for music - lol.

The only plane right now where you will need to change the radio channel in order to home in on the radio beacon is the P-39.
