IL-2 Sturmovik - Slow download speed?

Hello everyone! I finally bought the IL-2 Sturmovik game because I'm really a fan of historical and military games, with the BOBP Edition since I've always loved the Me 262.

However, upon downloading the launcher and installing the game, something unusual occurred to my experience: a massively SLOW download speed. And we're talking about kB/s here! Now, don't get me wrong: I've already done my researches, and apparently there's supposed to be a Prefer Web Distribution option in the launcher settings. However, when I went and took a look at mine, it simply wasn't there. Honestly downloading a ~20 GB game with an average download speed of 600 kB/s isn't that great since it's going to take a whole day. I linked further proofs, as well as my Internet speedtest, to "prove" my point.

As you can see in the first image, the Prefer Web Distribution option is missing. And then you have my actual Internet speed test, with an average download speed of 41.17 Mbps.

Thank you for any help you might provide!

Hi,

the option "Prefer web distribution" is no longer available - they updated the launcher some time ago and now you won't need this option

anymore. They had some issues with downloads, but could fix it and usually download times are quite fast.

But I think at the moment there is so much more traffic on the internet as usual because of people working at home and all the rest being

forced to stay at home, the latter using more streaming services etc.

This might be the cause of the slow download you notice at the moment.

I guess I might have just to wait until the download will somewhat speed up. The peculiar thing is that I firstly attempted to download the game at night, and the results were the same. Tried this morning, and still nothing changed.

Anyways thanks for the answer, seems like it's just a matter of time then.

I use a paid proxy service provider for about 2 years now, it normally selects the best server connections. Before that i had some slow download issues.

300k download of a 20gig file here. My connection usually does at least 30 megabtyes on steam il2. I will need to pause this eventually to do other things but see no option.

I get full 350 MB speed that saturates my fibre line.
It downloads faster than my SSD can write.

I've just come back to IL2  looking at new content after a few years away and trying to install on a new SSD and I'm getting 290 Kbps for the 46GB download.  That's going to take several days!   I had this issue last time I downloaded to my old HDD but I thought that was an isolated issue at the time. Here we are now years later and the download from the server is glacial....I have a decently fast internet connection -- I'm in Australia so yes, long distance from the server by 290Kbps?  Really? I've been starting and stopping the download for 3 days now (other people have to use theis PC) and the download speed is always in the 200-300 Kbps range, day or night. It has to be the server.

It's still little better. I guess I'll stick with Steam.
