Hi pilots!

I'm learning the mission editor and I've created a little deathmatch mission to play with my friends.

My idea is to spawn an IA flight at the start of the mission, 20-30km away from us, but when I start the mission I hit Ctrl+F2 and the planes do not spawn. They only appear when I fly close to the area.

I thought that doing it this way the enemy planes will appear at the start of the mission.

The planes are disabled at the start of the mission, and I start the this way:

What I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

It sounds like the planes are activating as they're supposed too, but you can see them because of the render distances in the game. You can't view other airframes that are not near you.

Try moving your player spawn closer, and seeing if that improves what you're after. If not, post your mission here so that we may take a look at it.

If I understood your problem...

In your mission, you used activate command, but to spawn a plane (or somethingelse) you have to use SPAWN command.

There is no "check area" trigger so I dont undestand why airplanes appear when you get close.

I think he's using "spawn" in a general sense, i.e., make the planes appear rather than create the planes. He needs to use the activate command because when you use the spawn command on a formation, wingmen do not follow commands given to the leader.

Sketch probably has the right idea about the planes being activated but not appearing because of the viewing distance limitations.

Do you not have to de-activate objects 1st, then activate them ?

No, you clear the Enabled checkbox in the Advanced Properties for each plane. Alternatively, you can start a mission with them enabled and disable them during the mission.

Yes, I'm using spawn incorrectly. The way I think it should work is that the planes should be there at the beginning of the mission and fly the waypoints.

But I'm sitting inside my plane in a far airfield and I hit ctrl+f2 and can't see the enemy planes that are supposed to be there. I can see them when I get closer.

Didn't know about rendering distance but makes sense. Question is: althought I can't see the planes from far away are they still flying their waypoints and doing their mission?

Best way to check is to move your player plane next to them and watch. Then move it back after you tested.

Next best thing is to add subtitle MCUs to the waypoints. These will only fire off if the bombers get to that waypoint.

Worst option, play the mission as normal and speed up the game.
