Mrjollyroger103 Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 (edited) Hey guys so I am working on my first skin. I am having some issues getting it to show up in game without it looking like a chrome snack lol. Shes very shine....I for some reason can not get the Nvidia DDS converter to detect my Photoshop Elements 14. Also I have tried to cover up the old Army Serial number that is on the left hand side of the plane, and I placed the squadron patch over it and its still coming through. Also, on the tips of the tail are suppose to be white but I cannot get them to change over to white. Some guidance would be great on this. I will upload the Photoshop file for reference. Thanks for any help! https://1drv.ms/u/s!AvhybOyL6y9RgRh71-RPeafsIxxs?e=SkOM9T Edited April 11, 2020 by Mrjollyroger103
Raptorattacker Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 In the Alpha, use the 'Bare Metal' layer. I presume you are doing an Aluminium skin? Anywhere you have roundels/markings/anything 'painted' you need to get them into your Alpha template and darken them slightly otherwise they'll just show up as a kind of metallic paint sort of effect! Have a look at the template image(s) below and you'll see what I mean... As for your Nvidia software bot showing up in your P'shop Elements, I dunno. It doesn't actually SHOW as a useable plug-in but when you go to save the skin from template you SHOULD have the option to save as .dds in the drop-down (see bottom image).

Thank you so much for getting back to me, much appreciated! I am very new to this so please forgive me. So what your saying I should is transfer my markings and such to the alpha build, darken the areas where the markings would be? I think I have the opacity up too much hence why my plane was super chromed out, but I will take a look at this later. It’s such a simple paint lol but I guess it’s a good one to learn on. I’ll post any updates to what I figure out later. After I darken the areas I need, then would I apply my markings as needed and colors? And then move them back to the other template that is included?
Raptorattacker Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 (edited) Yeah. What I normally do (and I do a LOT!!) is when I'm creating the skin I put all the features into a dedicated Group ('Rap's Mustang' or whatever) and then duplicate that group over to the Alpha and treat them over there. Then 'Select All' (with the wand or whatever)>'Flatten Image' ('discard hidden layers'=Yes)>Go to 'Channels' in the sidebar and hit the 'Save Selection as a Channel' button underneath (looks like a japanese flag)> Hit Ctrl+V to copy and then paste THAT into your colour template after highlighting the Channels window/Alpha Channel there. WARNING: DON'T forget to go BACK on your Alpha Template to the point before you Flattened the image otherwise you'll render it useless for further projects!! Trust me, I've DONE it!! I hope this helps? Rap ... it's a bit like riding a bike. When you know how to do it it's easy but it ain't easy to explain it to someone who can't. I'm always left with thinking, "I wonder if this makes ANY sense?" and I've tried with quite a few people as well! Let me know how you get on... It's better if you PM me for further updates, by the way. Oh yeah, just one other thing. You know when you quote someone when writing a reply? You can just highlight the text or whatever and you'll get the 'Quote' prompt to just that bit. Otherwise you get messages FULL of the same series of pictures!!
