damndirtybadger Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 So, me and a friend are trying to host our own missions to fly together. We can both join other missions and fly MP just fine, but when we go to host our own we connect to the server, download the mission map, LOAD the mission map then get dropped to the main menu. Proper ports are forwarded, double checked with three different port checking sites and software. Ping limiter maxed out in game as to not conflict with anything and exceptions made in any firewall software. This happens if i try to make a Co-op mission OR a dogfight mission. The only other instance of this i've seen is when multiple people try to join one server, however it's just myself and him. This issue really has me confused and frustrated. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you or your friend see any error messages or is it just like the drop to menu you get when trying to join a nearly full server?
damndirtybadger Posted March 30, 2020 Author Posted March 30, 2020 No messages, no indications. Just drops us back to the screen that has "Dogfight" or "cooperative"

Just drops us back to the screen that has "Dogfight" or "cooperative" Without an error code it is hard to say what is going on here. I haven't done Co-op but when that happens when trying to enter a dogfight server it is either that the Dserver process has crashed somehow, preventing new players from joining, or the server is full and rejects the connection attempt silently. Is this a sample co-op mission, or something you built yourself? It sounds like maybe there is something wrong with the mission, like it doesn't have enough players slots so people joining get booted to menu? I don't know a lot about mission design, just enough to know I'm out of my depth. You may want to post in the mission making forum about this problem, and upload your mission files so people can take a look at them. It could be something in the files is not set up right.
damndirtybadger Posted April 1, 2020 Author Posted April 1, 2020 I've tried even the bog standard missions. The ones the game comes with. Im not running dserver and the server has 10 slots open. Ive even taken a mission from my friends machine and posted it and it still wouldn't load.

Is it you, your friend, or have you tried both? Your ports may be forwarded correctly but maybe there is a firewall issue? Like the router can accept incoming connections but your computer is blocking them, forcing the disconnect you are seeing.

If neither of you can get the mission to work while hosting, and your ports are forwarded correctly, and the firewall has the appropriate exceptions, I'm out of ideas to try. There's no reason why it shouldn't work. I recommend cross posting to the mission making forum if you haven't already, and upload one of the missions you are trying to do. Possibly there is something the mission maker experts may be able to help with. I know Co-op has some idiosyncracies in hosting and mission building.
