Overall, IMO, the TAW Rhineland gameplay was well balanced but having the 262's in the low altitude fights, and strafing the airfields was not realistic. They would have been used mainly for the high altitude bomber interceptor role for which they were designed. To counteract this inbalance TAW Rhineland campaigns should consider using AI B-25 high alt bomber groups as is used on one of the Combat Box Maps. This would add more diversity and challenge to both sides.

Nope. Kampfgeschwader 51 with 3 squadrons of its I. Gruppe did nothing else than flying bombing and strafing sorties against the allies west of the Rhine river from Rheine and Hopsten airfield during 9/44 - 3/45. Additionally II. Gruppe chimed into this activity from 12/44 - 3/45 from Achmer and Essen/Muelheim.

You are correct with regards to the other Me 262 equipped units like Kommando Novotny, Jagdgeschwader 7 and KG (J) 54 and from late march 45 on JV 44. They did anti-bomber business exclusively.

Its more basic than that, you guys can't even see and coordinate with each other.  One guy slipping into that mix has the advantage when everyone's effectively blindfolded.  Your the ones walking into their trap when they already know where you'll be and from whence you come, don't matter how many escorts you bring.

 

Real world, no single fighter in their right mind would ever dare or succeed pulling that crap.
