Eskadra Wywiadowcza (10th Recon Sqn), 3. Pułk Lotniczy, Poznań-Ławica, 1921-22 Source: Tomasz J. Kopański, "Polish Wings 22", Stratus 2017 This was actually a Hispano-Suiza powered Bristol. The 20.1 and 20.2 were RR Falcon III powered and came first, then there was an order for 100 Hisso Bristols which started arriving in the Summer of 1920. The planes kept original British PC 10 paint. Only the roundels and serial numbers were overpainted with the unknown paint (German?). During the service, the paint started to fall off the canvas, especially on the places where the number/markings were overpainted. The 20.3 is a good example of that. She served in the Summer 1920 during the war with the Bolshevik Russia and was heavily damaged. Edited March 28, 2020 by 1PL-Lucas-1Esk 2 1 2
1PL-Lucas-1Esk Posted March 28, 2020 Author Posted March 28, 2020 (edited) 2. RAF SE5a Direct link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1goQmq41rBXAVOCeGVp2laZldgs8zh4jo/view?usp=sharing There were two SE5a's in the Polish service. They arrived in Warsaw in December 1919 together with two Bristols (later no. 20.1 and 20.2) with RR FIII. The planes were delivered by the Handley-Page for the demonstration purposes. One of the SE5a's was crashed during the demonstration flights in February 1920. After the H-P team left the Warsaw, the planes stayed in town. In June 1920, when the situation on Polish-Bolshevik front started to getting worse for the Poles, the remaining planes were purchased from the British. The SE5a, no. F9135 was one of those. When CO of the 7.Eskadra Myśliwska "Kościuszko", major Cedric Fauntl le Roy asked the Head of Aviation to assign the plane to his unit. The plane was sent to the front and arrived on the 15th of July 1920. The same day, she was sent for a recon flight. During the attack on the Bolshevik cavalry unit (problably belonged to the Horse Army), the plane was hit, the engine damaged and the pilot crash-landed and became POW. The wreck was destroyed. Because of that, the spare parts of the other SE5a (which crashed in February 1920) were not needed. The plane was carrying PC 10 cammo and had some surfaces overpainted with the unknown paint. Note the elevator position on the B/W photo taken before the last flight of this plane. Edited March 28, 2020 by 1PL-Lucas-1Esk 3
J2_Trupobaw Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Thank you. Is Bristol skin compatibile with both variants, or intended for just one of them?
1PL-Lucas-1Esk Posted March 28, 2020 Author Posted March 28, 2020 It is for the Falcon II, but it should work with the Falcon III. I plan to create 20.1 or 20.2 for the FIII version in the FC in the future.
1PL-Lucas-1Esk Posted March 29, 2020 Author Posted March 29, 2020 (edited) Sopwith Camel F5234, 7.Eskadra Myśliwska "Kościuszko", 1920-21 Source: Tomasz J. Kopański, "Polish Wings 22", Stratus 2017 This was the only Sopwith Camel in Polish service. She belonged to porucznik Kenneth M. Murray of the 7. Eskadra. He was one of the American volunteers serving in the unit. Because the plane arrived in November 1920, she did not take part in combat flights. Before the American pilots left Poland in 1921, the plane was purchased for the PAF. During the test flight performed by Ludomił Rayski (future CO of the Polish Air Force) on the 1st of August 1921, the engine stopped working and the pilot crash-landed. The Camel was scrapped. The plane had a PC10 cammo with overpainted roundels. The British serial numbers were preserved. The plane carried a non typical chessboards: the ones on the tail and upper wings had roundels, the ones painted on the lower wings did not have them. On the place of the fuselage roundel, the insignia of 7. Eskadra Myśliwska were painted. The 7.EM was incorporated into newly formed 1.Pułk Lotniczy in 1921 (1st Air Regiment) based in Warsaw. The unit was later renamed to 111.Eskadra Myśliwska (111th Fighter Squadron) and was one of the best units in the interbellum period. In September 1939, the unit took part in the defence of Warsaw as a part of the Pursuit Brigade. Year later, the members of the 111.EM (and other units of the 1.PL) created a backbone of the famous 303 Squadron (which inherited the unit's insignia) The Camel was manufactured by the March, Jones & Cribb company. J37_GCF Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Excellent skins ! would you like them included in the unofficial skin bundle ? i will start collecting again next week for chapter 2.
1PL-Lucas-1Esk Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 GCF, that would be great! However, I was thinking about this: how about some chapter which would consist of historical, but post-WW1 skins? I know that some may not wish to use/have non-WW1 stuff in their skin collections in the game. Just a thought. Lucas
