So I recently reinstalled Il2 for Flying Circus. Running it on a Dell G3 15 laptop and using FacetrackNoIR. My problem is that after 20-30 minutes of playing, my view gets messed up and then I no longer have control over the window. It's Il2 that is visible, but it doesn't react to the keyboard, joystick or Facetrack either. I tried to alt tab out and back, tried to "switch to" Il2 via the task manager, nothing helps.

I disabled game mode in WIN10 and clicked "disable full screen optimisation" too. Full screen mode is checked.

Anyone had this before?

Do you ever have this occur without FaceTrack on? With your view getting messed up when the problem occurs, it sounds like something in that app is messing with your inputs or becoming the 'focused app' in the background.

I haven't tried it without, but sometimes it hapens after 30 minutes, so that would take a lot of testing. Also, even if it becomes the focused app, I switch out and then back to Il2, but I never regain control.

Yes, it would definitely be difficult to test it. Always a problem when you're having intermittent issues, they are the most frustrating.

Have you tried running it with full screen mode off, and just set Il-2 to the proper resolution for your monitor? Perhaps this will allow you to regain control of the window if focus shifts. I find that Il-2 running full screen mode does not like to lose focus, so swapping out to other applications seems to cause issues for me sometimes...either I have a hard time using the other applications or Il-2 starts encountering performance issues sometimes. The most recent patch has been better about it I think but in the past it caused me some issues.

I can't recall if running in windowed mode causes a significant performance hit on the current patch, but at least with this you can test that setting for extended periods without losing your head tracking solution.

Fullscreen mode off didn't help :(

Damn. Ok. I was hoping that would solve it.

I don't really know where to go from here to be honest. I suspect it has to do with Facetrack but no way to be sure.

Here's a way to test it without having to sit there and be bored for a while. Turn on Il-2 only. Set up a quick mission on a big map with one of the planes. Set up unlimited fuel if possible. Spawn the plane as near to the edge of the maps as possible, and start the mission. Get the plane pointing to the far side of the map, set it in autolevel, and then let it run for 30 minutes to an hour. Do something else in the meantime, and just check back in every once in a while to see if Il-2 still has 'focus'. If Il-2 loses focus within the test then at least we know it is not an issue solely with FaceTrack. If no problems emerge, then maybe doing a clean reinstall or a different version of FaceTrack, or using a different tracking solution if possible.
