WWSitttingDuck Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Was considering using Vanders EMB for FC, then remember seeing this activity a while back ago, and was wondering how others are dealing with it. If I am in the air with a friendly ai near me, enemy ai pay absolutely not attention to me. No matter what I do, the enemy ai will not turn to engage me, or attempt to fire on me. If I assist the enemy ai in killing all the friendly ai, once the last one is down, then the enemy ai will shoot at me, but not until all the other friendly ai are gone.
Beebop Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I have a similar situation. In testing on Arras map I have 5 DVa's on patrol. Waypoints set to low. They totally ignore me. Unlike Sitting Duck I am alone. I use this same Group (spawned patrol using Complex Translator as enabler) in other missions and the AI attacks me at low and medium and reacts (avoidance but not attacking) even if set to high. Only difference is the planes used. AI does have ammo and full fuel tanks.
WWDriftwood Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 (edited) Try these mission, multiplayer dogfight, AI engage. Fly it by yourself or with others. Practice flying any FC plane, each side has 6 groups of 6 planes each that will come out as you kill enemy. 36 planes per side, total of 72 Each group has 2 elements (2 wings that stick together) and 2 separate wings - totaling 6 for the group. Random flight groups, Random timing, random skill levels, so the weight of the fight will change each time you fly. You may kill all the bandits currently on the map and wait for the next groups, or not, but they will keep coming.... timing - groups may come in 1, 3, 4, or 7 minutes as you kill them, plus some delays for the planes within those groups. Win by killing all the bandits - all but 3 should do it. AI verses AI and they come after humans.... so fly it alone and join the AI fight to see how you do. Have fun practicing. unreasonable Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 It is always best when posting about having trouble with a mission behaving strangely to post the mission. Saves people wasting their time making random suggestions when they could just look in the editor instead.
WWDriftwood Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I think this was a general observation that the FC AI would behave this way, not engaging with humans over enemy AI in a mission because of the game programing. No matter what we did with the plane mechanics for the mission. Not sure myself. But as of now, they seem to behave nice with AI v AI in combination with humans. If not, check your mission. I just made sure I used the FC map (have no idea if that makes any difference) , WW1 coalitions, etc. Didn't know what to expect when I flew it so I was happy they engaged... (I'm not a FC mission builder, some would say I'm not a mission builder period, LOL, just wanted something to get familiar with all the different FC planes) so if there not engaging you as describe... check coalitions for everything, still not working, post the mission in question.
PatrickAWlson Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 The AI neither targets nor ignores humans. It doesn't care. What the AI does do is become fixated based on some internal logic. If the Human presents a juicy target (per the AI's brain) then it will look like they are all attacking the player (another common complaint and the exact opposite of this complaint). If the human does not present the juiciest target then the AI will seemingly ignore the human. The definition of "juiciest target" is not necessarily explainable in human terms. You'll have to ask the AI why it does what it does 2
plepew Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 Try using either the "Attack Area" or "Attack Targets" MCU's to put them in attack mode (note you have to trigger or activate these for them to work). If enemy planes are just flying waypoints they tend to be less aggressive unless you get close and open fire (even at low or medium priority). Also note that the default duration for these attack MCU's is 10 minutes.
