Hi there

Trying to zoom into my missions closer than 50m (max zooming in) results in that error.

Anybody got an idea
what that could mean

and how to fix it

Where is your mission?

When things don't work in the editor like they should, I often reset the editor itself. You can do that by going here and clicking the ResetEditorSettings file:

C:\....\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\bin\editor

I got Frame Heap Overflow when I had too many objects on the map (doing the free area mapping for our server's campaign system) and did the zooming.

Looks like I've got the same in my mission.
A version containing about a quarter of the triggers lets me zoom like before.

I was wondering how many triggers are you having here?

I was able to circumvent this issue by changing to the GUI map instead of the actual map. Not an ideal situation in all cases but figured I'd throw in my 2 cents.

I have 1250 Triggers in one my missions and have absolutely no issue.

I had it when I was around 16000 Attack Area MCUs.

Serious ? How can you reach this number. My Missions are already very very complex.

My 1250 Triggers are of all kinds.

But Attack Area is not a Trigger MCU but a Command MCU. I have in total 200 Command MCUs and 17 of the Attack Area type.

I was wondering how you can reach such numbers that are over 13 fold my numbers. Are you sure you cannot do the same things differently and in a much simpler way?

16000 Attack Area MCUs means that you have at least 16'000 entities that are attacking on the same map. Maybe they are not all active at the same time but even that it is an enormous number. I am not surprised that you may crash the editor with such numbers. If you have 16'000 Attack Area MCUs then your mission has at least 100'000 or more entities of all kind on a given map. If so do not be surprised to enter into a lot of different issues.

The "mission" was for mapping the free areas for our campaign system, so those MCUs were used just to get coordinates. There was nothing else in the mission.

Aha! Now all is clear. Nevertheless that is still a lot of commands. I always wondered what was the maximum number of stuff that this Editor was able to handle. Thanks to your experience I know better what the limits can be and am very happy that I am far, very very far from those limits in designing my missions.

For the mission in my "The Kuban Wall" campaign which by the way will shortly bu put online in a completely reviewed and updated way, I have  in total all objects, MCUs's, everything, something like 20'000 entities on the map (Kuban Summer by the way).

These 21'000 entities are split as follows:

1) Dynamic entities like planes, vehicles ships, train, airfield, effects, flags total about 1000 units.

2) MCU's total around 1400 units.

3) Static entities like blocks, bridges, grounds, total about 17'500 units.

As you see still working space available.
