Brizzly Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 A friend and I have been playing multiplayer, and have run into an odd issue. If I host, whenever he joins my server, he gets an infinite 'waiting' message, and the mission never loads on his end. If he hosts, I can join his server, and we play just fine. Of the two of us, I'm better with computers, so it's easier for us if I can host, but we can't seem to figure out why he can't join a server I create. This is a recent problem, as last spring we played a few times, and he was able to join my server just fine. My initial thought is port forwarding, but nothing has really changed on my end, and would that be the issue if I can join his server?
Sketch Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 (edited) He may have modding enabled. Have you checked that? Also, can you see if he can join other servers? Can he possible join someone else's co-op mission? Edited March 25, 2020 by [TWB]Sketch
Brizzly Posted March 25, 2020 Author Posted March 25, 2020 We've confirmed that we both have modding disabled. From what I've seen, if you enable/disable modding, you can't even see the opposite servers. He can see and join mine, it just never loads the mission.
Sketch Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 (edited) Ah, maybe it's your mission then. Have you tested the mission? Maybe you could ask for assistance in the mission editor thread. Check this thread for more help: Edited March 25, 2020 by [TWB]Sketch
Brizzly Posted March 25, 2020 Author Posted March 25, 2020 The mission file he uses when he hosts is the same as mine. I emailed the mission file to him.

Brizzly Posted March 29, 2020 Author Posted March 29, 2020 (edited) DD_Arthur, thanks. Do you think it's on his end, or mine, based on him not downloading the mission from my end, but me being able to get it from him if he hosts? I suspect his end, since I'm pretty sure I've done everything on mine. I've double, and triple checked. Edited March 29, 2020 by Brizzly

Hi Brizzly, The problem is on your end. When he's hosting, his pc is the server and yours is the client. If you can join it means his router ports are correctly open otherwise you would not be able to download the mission from his pc. When you host the same mission and it never loads on his pc its because your ports are not correctly open to act as the server to his client. 'Fraid I'm no sort of computer expert at all. i just got lucky and set mine up correctly first time. Not sure if this helps but here's a thread from our squad's website with some illustration; http://dangerdogz.com/forums/topic/13140-port-forwarding/ I have had to reset my router after a Windows update in the recent past. Good luck
