LLv34_Flanker Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 S! So I decided to finally get on TS and fly some BoS, play MWO etc. but there is one slight problem: I can get no input from the mic! It is detected by the soundcard in it's 3.5mm jack, sound control panel sees it too as default. But there is no sound whatsoever from it I have tried using Windows drivers, Realtek drivers, Asrock drivers and whatnot, but in vain. Not a single puff from the mic. Everything else works just fine. So anyone here having this problem or a solution? Thanks in advance on any tips...
FuriousMeow Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Do you have a secondary mic you could use, like ear pieces that came with your smartphone that are mic equipped? Without being able to test a secondary device, it very well could be that the mic is shot. Edited April 24, 2014 by FuriousMeow
Panzerlang Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Have you made sure the input volume is high enough in TS?
LLv34_Flanker Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) S! The thing is that the system worked perfectly not long ago. There were some Windows 8.1 updates a couple of weeks ago, but I do not think these updates porked the sound. I did search and there were quite a few hits on people having either very low sound on mic or none at all. TS sees my mic and can start test mode, but there is just no input. Same applies to Windows microphone setup, it sees it but there is no input when reading the test text. Only input I can get is if I flick the mic on/off button on the headphone cord. Then there is some input. Gonna test another headphone setup if that makes a difference. Thanks for the tips anyway Edited April 24, 2014 by LLv34_Flanker
Bando Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Some webcams have a microphone as well. May be that one (if you have a webcam) is interfering settings?
LLv34_Flanker Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 S! Yep, it was the microphone. Got new CoolerMaster Storm headphones and all works again. Thanks for the tips and have a good weekend.
