scoobe Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Starting about a week ago, I started getting a strange error when I start the BOS Launcher. It says "Launcher.exe - Bad Image" and then goes on to say "c:\Windows\Microsoft.net\Framwork\v2.0.50727\culture.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains and error". I just click OK and error goes away and the launcher loads fine and installs whatever updates (if any) to the game. Ive re-installed BOS 3X with the same result. The game works fine and I do not get this error with anything else. Im using Windows 8.1 and have not installed or updated anything just before this started happening. Just wondering if anyone else got this error? It does not bother me since everything is working fine. Im not going to go crazy trying to find it problem. I usually don't start the game through the launcher anyway. I just made a shortcut to il-2.exe and bypass the launcher. I only run that on Fridays when there are updates. Rob
FuriousMeow Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) I don't have Windows 8.1, still 7, but I haven't seen it with Win7. It's also MS Framework throwing the error, so it would seem a conflict between framework and Win8.1 - perhaps a corrupt install of Framework 2.0. You would want to start there, google culture.dll with the error message, framework 2.0 and Win 8.1" You'll find a lot of results on Google, but it won't hurt to verify all of them. It may not even be MS Framework, BoS or Win 8.1 - have you updated any other drivers or applied any windows updates recently? Edited April 24, 2014 by FuriousMeow
scoobe Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 Thanks for the reply. I got it resolved. What I had to do, (in case anyone else has the same issue) is to go to the search window in Win 8 and type "Windows Features" then click "Turn Windows Features on/off" and unselect Framework 2.0. Then let the PC reboot. Then click the BOS launcher and it will say it needs a feature you don't have and it wants to install it from Microsoft. Let it install and it works fine. Something with Framework 2.0 got corrupted, but its working now. Thanks, Rob 2
FuriousMeow Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Awesome you got it resolved. I figured it was corrupt, that was also a great tip about removing it from Windows features because that framework is included in Win7 as well so you can't just uninstall it like normal apps or even like Framework 3 or 4. I'm not sure about Win 8.1, they might have Framework 3 included like Framework 2.0 is with Win 7 and above.
