If I get skins for aircraft and intend to play online with buddies. Do they have to have the same skins downloaded as I do?

Good question - I still have my doubts and I'm not really sure how the skin story works in MP. Why do you ask?

 

Well, we have an option in the game settings called "Show custom paint schemes" - what is it good for?

To me, from a logical point of view, it seems to allow displaying custom skins in MP and make it visible

to others. Or I am completely wrong?

Only skins you have downloaded will be visible.

If you have, say, a SET of skins (3 for the sake of argument) and three of you are playing together and ALL THREE of you have downloaded the set and chosen one skin each then ALL three of you will see the skins as you play. NO-ONE ELSE will see them unless they too have downloaded them.
