So. This may be long winded. So forgive me. I have had BoS for a while and it wasn't until the other day when one of my good gaming buddies sees me playing it. He is like, I have that game too! I honestly didn't play it much because I enjoyed playing other games with friends. So, we fire then up, I get my VR headset on and we spend HOURS laughing and crying at our antics. This morning. We convince another buddy of mine to get BoS so we can all play together.

It wasnt until this morning when I really started reading through the forums to and see just how awesome this community is. From the Dev involvement, all the way down to the individuals playing it. We stumbled accross the coupons and all three of us picked Boddeplatte. For me, I was for the first time, able to sit into my favorite aircraft of all time. The P38 lighting  this aircraft got me into aviation as a kid. Growing up in the 80s I could only DREAM of having a flight sim like this. I grew up on microshaft flight sim 98 with a dial up to my buddy accross the street. Now, middle aged and a certified aircraft mechanic by trade. This series is exactly what i have been looking for for 25 odd years.

I just wanted to say it's a pleasure to be in a group of such fine men as yourselves. This quarantine is just going to help get me more virtual flight hours.

On steam I go by Vmat1 and Meankitty731 is my tag. We have a TS server that we play on and will start venturing out into the other servers once we get more accustomed to this.

Thanks Devs for keeping this series alive and kicking!!

Welcome to the Club. The Lightning is a great plane for sure.

Welcome! IL-2 is a great series and I'm glad you've had a chance to discover it and dive in.

Lots of great multiplayer opportunities out there and the servers have never been busier. The P-38 I hadn't flown much until this latest season of TAW kicked off and I really had a chance to dig into it. What a fantastic aircraft. Although I feel it more suited to the strike role that we've been using it in, it's still a formidable fighter in a pinch and the performance it can put out even when hauling 4000lbs of bombs is outstanding. I can see that lots of other folks have found it to be useful a well.

Enjoy and hopefully we'll see you in the skies!

Welcome to the forum also Shyloc. Send me a PM and I’ll give you one of my discount codes so Meankitty doesn’t have an unfair advantage. I’m not going to use it but I think you can get 75% off the Spit.

So I had the game installed for a while but no one to play with.  I play World of Warships with Meankitty and we found out that we both had the game.  What with the Virus quarantine, we started playing, and got Shyloc to join as well.

I'll probably start posting a bit more once I turn off infinite ammo, infinite fuel, and all the other noob helpers XD

The sooner you lose the helpers the better. Once you can take off, land and fly around, you will shorten the learning curve by getting used to keeping your eye on the rpm and manifold pressure instead of just jamming the throttle to the stop. You will also need to pay attention to the radiator in the Spitfire. Once you get the settings down, it’s only a tiny bit more work to fly full real. I use the in cockpit photo as a checklist for rpm (prop pitch) and manifold pressure (throttle) settings.

While using VR, I have everything turned off except subtitles, so it’s all based on the cockpit instruments.

That fucking rocks.

Im still getting used to not jerking my aim with the joystick.  Even with all the helpers on, its tough to keep the bullseye on the little red dot in front of a moving plane.  Once I get a little more comfortable with that, I will likely move to the more realistic side because that sounds awesome.

You probably want to watch the profanity but yeah it is hard. You will find that the more you practice, the more you get used to leading planes in a turn with the guns, since that’s how most shooting situations occur in the air. Some of us have been flying flight sims for 20 years or so and after 1000s of hours it’s 2nd nature I guess.

Sorry man I'm from New England and I play hockey.  But I'm a God fearing man and I generally mean well (unless you're a Flyers fan)

^ Oh, It's not anything against you, mate, but this forum just has its own official rules (like every other), so getting loose with language will bring moderator's attention quickly.
