Just a couple of casual remarks:

- Can't wait for that effin' Hurricane! It's not everybody's sweetheart like the Spitfire is, but it sure looks business.

- Everybody is always raving about those sharp german uniforms, but I have to say, those RAF blues look great and the Armée de l'Air have Sierra Hotel uniforms, too!

- That "Irvin" jacket is just great (just like that RAF sweater!). Too bad the originals don't have pockets, which limits their use a bit.

- I love that canvas bag!

- Doesn't the RAF look like a jolly good flying club?

I got to get that film on DVD.

Good that I have "Those magnificent man in ther flying machines" - whoever hasn't seen that movie shall try to see it at whatever cost it takes. Time well spent...

"oh for god sakes Jamie, give you brain a chance!" ? Great movie, despite the standard 60's cheesyness. Its a pity we cant make movies like this anymore because most of the planes are long gone..

I can watch the movie and sort of enjoy it but I think it’s grossly over-rated by flight simmers. Too much trying to be crammed into a two hour film. Cartoonish German characters at least on par with Red Tails and terrible special effects that are  not even close to the standard of some late 1960s film like Tora, Tora,Tora keep it from being anything but an excuse to watch some Spirfires and Hurricane(s) flying. Certainly not a classic film like 12 O’clock High. With the cast it had, it coulda, shoulda, woulda been with a better storyline.

I love that movie and don't think the Germans are cartoonish - except for Göring maybe...

but than again this depiction seems to be close enough to what I read about him.

Red tails is a completely different flick with some of the worst dialogue I had to endure...

Probably the best WWII aviation movie made so far... much better than any of the typical hollywood rubbish that was churned out.  (tin hats on everyone)

Highly recommended for folks interested in pre-WW1 kites (no CGI here). And of course Terry Thomas as the classic bounder. Laughed I did.

Agreed. For some bizarre reason I hate the way the P-51 and P-47 looks in the razerback but think the lines look so much better in the bubbletop. Now with the Hurricane I love the way she looks with the airframe meeting up with the cockpit area. Perhaps it’s because of the Hurricane’s strikingly ‘upshot lower jaw line’ that balances her out. Well, whatever it is I can’t wait either. I definitely smell a complete makeover of the BoB perhaps coming in this series especially with the upcoming maps and plane sets including the V-1.

Wow - actually using Hurricanes to depict, er, Hurricanes! I’m gonna have to watch it all the way through sometime if I can own it streaming instead of DVD that way I can sit in the car and watch it while wife turns loose in a given store with the debit card. I get sick of the CG stuff aka Red Tails especially when represented  as a typical Lucas Tie Fighter but given the allotment of birds still flying I suppose not much choice.

Don’t know how Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines has eluded me all these years. Going to track down also.

“Or how I flew from London to Paris in 25 hours and 11 minutes” rofl...

Yes, the RAF blues look quite the Sierra Hotel India Tango too.

I love my WW2 US Army mechanics field sweater here in the Minnesota winters. Very heavy knit too like the RAF version.

The RAF a indeed seems to be always depicted as a jolly good flying club to wit whenever I feel the urge to take one of their steeds into the air I always must properly cap off the sortie with putting my legs up and drinking some proper English tea and some bites of scones - pinky finger extended of course.

Jolly good stuff! Cheers!

Aha! Found it. Done!

Any WW2 stuff that survived to the time that film was made, almost certainly still exists, even if it's had to be totally rebuilt more than once.
