So I'm on the Kuban map with 2/3rd of the objects removed, just keeping those in the combat area, but when I place an object and try to make it a Linked Entity, it takes forever.  It looks like in the Mission Tree that the ME is going through all the objects already placed.  This also happens when I Copy/Paste said LE.  But, if I select say a pair of LE's and Copy/Paste it doesn't take as much time.  I have a lot of objects already grouped.

In the past I have experienced momentary delays doing this but not these long delays, sometimes up to a minute.  I've been able to go into the kitchen, get a cup of coffe and when I return it's still doing whatever it is it's doing.  I haven't had this particular problem before.  I set up the map per the manual and various video tutorials.  Other maps, even this one, hasn't acted up like this before. I'm betting I forgot some basic function.

TIA.

(i know i'm going to have a doh! moment soon)

if your mission tree is not collapsed, it will take longer.  But agree, it seems to be taking longer after you place an object before you get the map back again.

Do you mean just having it show the first line, "(Name of My Mission)"?  It still takes as long I just don't see all the objects flickering, just the title.

Yes, I have experienced a short delay on other maps and understand that but this is taking up to a minute for a simple tank to be 'entitied'.  (new 'Mission Builder jargon word of the day, lol)

ME Glossary

iEntitied:  The action that makes an object become a Linked Entity assigning it to a side or faction.  "He entitied the tank to Germany".

Does anyone know what is going on?  In 1946 (i know, I know, this isn't the old IL-2) the only thing that took long in the FMB was the initial loading depending on the map chosen and the amount of objects.  What mechanism in in place that takes so long for a single object to be 'entitied' in the ME?

Slightly offtopic but please tell me it's a Chance Hardman Adventure series mission?

:)

(Sorry, can't help with your actual question)

Thank you for being aware of that little sidebar of mine from 1946.

I'd love to start up more Chance Hardman Adventures/Jungle Adventures using this engine.  I am currently working on a mission where you attack a converted oil rig in the Kerch Strait.

The story line is the well ran dry after only 1000 barrels.  So it's converted to a fish harvesting rig.  They catch the fish, process them into a crude liquid then take them by tanker to an oil  refinery further up the coast.

It's just rudimentary in it's current form.  I'd like a float plane but that a ways down the road I think.

This game requires a huge amount of imagination, something I'm not in short supply of.  (I've already raided the shelves of my local brain stores for everything they have in stock while I "shudder in place", ? ) along with a better understanding of the ME, which with the marvelous help of everyone, I am slowly attaining.

The only way to go fast is to have a group and Set it Working. When you will add an object in that group and link it it will be very fast.

Otherwise the only way is to collapse all the tree, but it is still slower than the group method.

I left click in the Mission tree or in the name field of the properties box and it cuts off the refresh scrolling. That cuts it down to 5-8 seconds. I’ve never had that crash the ME, although it does make me wonder sometimes.

I had crashes just after doing that, but not always. I stopped doing it. I first close the tree completely. But now I always work in groups as this is even much faster.
