SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 (edited) If I read only uploadvr I'd actually believe Oculus had the absolute top of the line headsets. Just my recommendation would be to avoid that magazine alltogether, and look at independent magazines like roadtovr instead. Edited March 20, 2020 by SCG_Fenris_Wolf
VR-DriftaholiC Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Gonna be something like the quest.. No use for us I fear.

Even currently the Quest with Link works really well with IL-2 GB. Just all depends on what all one wants out of a VR headset.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 (edited) I can't possibly imagine quest works well for spotting planes in this game when people complain about it's link cable compression artifacts in others. Edited March 21, 2020 by driftaholic

It does work quite well, I was surprised how well it did. I don't think spotting is any worse than in my Rift S. I have used in it IL-2, DCS, and a few Oculus VR titles. SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 I have read reports about input lag and issues with compression. Do you use the VRlink usb-c from your rtx2080ti?

Do you use the VRlink usb-c from your rtx2080ti? Not for Quest with Link. I use that port on my 2080 Ti for my Rift S USB 3 plug. Quest with Link I use my motherboard's front panel USB-C header, which I have access to from the front of my case. I just plug the Oculus Link cable directly into that when I want to use it. I myself did not notice any input lag or compression issues when I used it which is very convenient. Spent some time in Asgard's Wrath with it also which has a lot of swordplay and did not notice any lag. Edited March 22, 2020 by dburne 1 1
Starcos Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 I use my Quest for Il-2, and as dburne said, no image quality problem, no input lag, etc. Just as responsive as my Rift CV1 was, and much better image quality. (And my cable is not even the original Oculus link, it's a third party thing.)

Good option for those that want one headset that can do both PC-VR and stand alone. Games with dark scenes especially look better to me in the Quest. Edited April 2, 2020 by dburne
Starcos Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 I would prefer Rift S for Il-2, as far as I know it has much less screen door effect, so it looks better despite the resolution difference. But the lack of hardware IPD made me choose Quest instead, and I love it. Playing Alyx wireless via Virtual Desktop, watching movies anywhere while being in a movie theater, etc... it can do so much more
