BillyBark Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 I'm thinking of picking this up but I have a question re spotting. I play on a wide screen at 3440x1440. I also play DCS and the high resolution is a disadvantage to spotting actually makes it worse. There are other discussions around this issue in DCS which seems to be have something to do with how ac are depicted at a distance in the DCS engine. I'd like to play at 3440x1440 and still be able to spot ac without the aid of labels at a realistic distance. Any comments on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks!

For sure , but one condition - 34 inches. I'm using that and I'm able to spot first before others can see looking in same direction. Edited March 20, 2020 by 1PL-Husar-1Esk
J2_Drookasi Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 I am also using a 36 inches at 3440x1440 resolution PC monitor. I am able to spot contacts (under certain environmental conditions, this is important to remember) to up to 12 km. Assuming that you also have a decent graphics card (mine is a GTX 1080), yes go ahead and get Flying Circus. 1
US103_Baer Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Talbot uses an Ultra wide 3440x1440 and probably has the best spotting in our squad. Combined with other comments here i'd say you have your answer.

I hooked my computer up to my 72-inch HDTV and played il-2 for about a week. It was awesome and enemies were easy to spot. I would still be using the setup if I didn't use my computer for so many things other than flightsims. Edited March 21, 2020 by GrislyAccord
