[CPT]Raptor27 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 I put a new hard drive in my computer so I had to re-download everything. When I start IL-2 I can play single player No problem , or at least so far anyway. But when I go to multiplayer some multiplayer games I can play no problem, but If I pick multiplayer games like Red box or Taw . It loads all the way until the end and then freezes.... And I see a box pop up saying IL-2 has encountered a problem and needs to close..... Now if I pick one of the other multiplayer games, it usually will let me in with no problem. Now I just reloaded everything two days ago so I'm still fooling with it. I'm wondering if anybody else is having this trouble. Or if anybody has any ideas I can try. I'm thinking about uninstalling it and reinstalling it. I don't know much about computers, so I'm kind of flying blind here, so to speak.. LOL PS... I installed the one straight from IL-2 's website and also I have a steam version . Both games are doing the same thing.
RedKestrel Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Just for some clarification: When you say 'some multiplayer games' are you referring to games other than Il-2, or are you referring to the different Il-2 servers? It seems like you mean the different servers. First thing is, do you have any other games that have online gaming, and are you having any issues with those? Second thing is, sometimes the various servers have issues with the mission files that get downloaded. In the past, I have had Combat Box and TAW servers hang indefinitely when loading, forcing me to restart the game. In that case you have to go into where the downloaded mission file is stored in your game files and delete it. Then, when you reconnect to the server, it redownloads the mission file properly and often the issue gets fixed. I'm not at my home PC at the moment so I can't remember the file structure, but this is what I would try. I will see if i can find a thread where this was recommended and post here if I find it. 1 hour ago, [TWB]Raptor27 said: I put a new hard drive in my computer so I had to re-download everything. As per my post above, I believe the mission is in your game folder under data/Missions/Multiplayer/. The missions may have a subfolder, like TAW. I believe that Combat Box's is stored in a folder called "Alonzo" at that location. If you go into those folders and delete the downloaded mission it may stop hanging on you.
[CPT]Raptor27 Posted March 19, 2020 Author Posted March 19, 2020 Thank you so much. I am at work right now I am not at my computer but I'm going to try this when I get home tonight and cross my fingers. Thank you again. Thank you RedKestrel.....I'm sorry I got ahead of myself in my response ..No it's only in IL-2 that I can tell so far , but I have noticed it's either TAW or Red Box is the ones that it hangs up on at the very end of loading . And I have to restart my computer..... Now I can't remember the name of the other multiplayer games that I was able to play in IL-2, but those loaded like normal. Now I haven't tried multiplayer in DCS yet but as I get everything loaded in the system I will be trying it tonight.

Like Berloga or KOTA? I wonder if the game is just having trouble with certain complex mission files. Also, there should be a multiplayer setting page, could you screenshot that and post it? Maybe there is something strange in the default settings. It would be good to be able to isolate the problem. Some people report better performance if they change the upload/download values, I have never had to change them myself.
[CPT]Raptor27 Posted March 20, 2020 Author Posted March 20, 2020 yes i can connect to those games Berloga or KOTA but cant connect to RedBox or the other popular dogfighting multiplayer one..cant remember its name i think BOS

Berloga is based on a Russian server and KOTA is in Hungary, I think, but TAW is in Germany and Combat Box (I assume that is what you mean by RedBox) is in New York. I wonder if a poor connection to the individual servers is causing problems. KOTA has missions just as complex as Combat Box so I don't think it's the mission file per se. Is the error from Windows or is the error from Il-2 itself? Where is the game installed on your hard drive? Some people say that installing the game in Program Files (x86) causes random issues. Is the new hard drive the same as the old one, or different? SSD or conventional? Often I find that on combat Box. the download seems to 'freeze' right at the very end for a little while. I just let it sit for a minute or so and then it loads, its just part of the process. Do you click any buttons or hit anything while you're waiting? I wonder if this is just WIndows thinking Il-2 is not responding to your inputs and then closing it down.
[CPT]Raptor27 Posted March 20, 2020 Author Posted March 20, 2020 Thanks RedKestrel ...will do as soon as i get home ...yes ..combat box ..don't know where the heck i got redbox from...lol the error is from IL2.... the new ssd is different ...its a 2tb Samsung 860 QVO my other one was a 1 tb Reactor Hmm don't know where the game installed ...wherever Steam puts them ...i never change where there installed...i have walked away to let it have plenty of time to load and then ill hit ALT + TAB and ill see where it says "IL2 has encountered a problem and needs to close" darn ..wish I new more about computers...ugh
[CPT]Raptor27 Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 Any time I try to log in to a multiplier game it tells me "Il2 Sturmovik has stopped working... A problem caused the program to stop working correctly windows will close the program and notify you if solution is available" I just don't get it .... I uninstalled both games and reinstalled both games ... I have a steam version and I have the Version straight from the il2 website... All of my other games I can log on multi players no problem... It seems to be just il2...ugh Maybe this will help RedKestrel...are you able to see it ..i hope this worked DESKTOP-V0AR04S.txt
RedKestrel Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 I can see it. Is that a dump file from cpu z? I can read most of it. Your processor is comparable to mine and you have lots of RAM memory but it is slow memory...DDR3, most stuff now is DDR4. But that shouldn't make a difference for this problem. I couldn’t find your video card in there, do you know what card you have? If you used CPU z you should be able to flip through tabs in the program to see things a little easier than the raw text file. I only ask because when you contact support they are going to ask for all your computer specs so it’s best to have it all written down. At this point I would contact support through the website here. If it is only happening with MP servers and not with single player mode then it may be a network issue specific to il2. Any info you can provide about your internet and home network would be good to have. Outline your problem as well as you can. They might be a while getting back to you though. in the meantime, try this: 1. Shut down any unnecessary software on your computer. No trackIR, no Discord, no Nvidia experience or screen capture stuff, no steam running in the background. The only thing you want running is Il2. 2. Delete any existing mission files as you did before to get a clean slate. 3. Launch the game, not from steam but from the il2.exe you downloaded from the website. 4. Log in and then go to CombatBox and try to get on the server. Document all the steps you took, any error codes, etc that you see along the way, even how long things took. That way you can tell support exactly what happened and you will know it is not a weird problem with another piece of software. For the error message, it sounds like it is windows saying that il2 encountered a problem and needs to close. So you are not getting an error code from il2. Maybe there is a firewall or antivirus program messing with something. it might be worthwhile to uninstall both versions of the game and reinstall the store version only of the game again, but this time just make a folder on your main drive just for the game and install the game to that folder, not the default spot where the installer puts it. Maybe windows is just glitching out because it doesn’t like where the game is installed on this hard drive. I know reinstalling again is a pain in the ass So I understand if you don’t want to do it. I just don’t see any obvious issues that would be easy fixes. i see you are with TWB. Has anyone in your squad had an issue like this before? also, just to be clear, this problem only started with the new hard drive? With the old hard drive you could get into MP servers?
[CPT]Raptor27 Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 Nvidia 1080ti ok so i should get DDR4 what kind and how much ? oh and do i delete the entire folder or just whats inside? ok ill uninstall it and reinstall it in its own folder on my desktop thnx RedKestrel ill ask the guys when i catch them online and not busy... Geforce GTX 1080 Ti I wouldn’t replace the ram if you don’t need to. But yeah most modern ram is DDR4, so when you do need to replace it get that type. Your video card is really good, 1080ti is an excellent card.

Make sure your motherboard specs allow ddr4 ram sticks. To my knowledge most boards that support ddr3 cant support higher speed ddr4 sticks if any at all. 1
FlyingH Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 (edited) And as RedKestrel said, when having problems with the game install it out of the Program files folder (which is the default folder when installing "straight from the box") as that has UAC protection that can make wierd thing if windows doesn´t like what´s going on! [CPT]Raptor27 Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 YES...i shut off everything but the game and it seems to be working now .... thank you RedKestrel and everyone else.... also i uninstalled everything having to do with VR ...it kept popping up even though i had the headset unplugged... 1
