duk3_nuk3_3m Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Started playing not too long ago.. Pretty steep learning curve! But MAN - there are moments in this game that just take your breath away. Like the first time I saw all these colorful biplanes twisting and turning in a furball over the trenches! Most of my flights have involved me getting bounced, shots, blacking out, and waking up with a real bad hangover.. Today saw a plane - still not great at recce in VR. Flew a little closer.. OK german not so bad. Formed up on him. He led me into some great fights. It was amazing keeping an eye on my lead aircraft and attacking together. Was able to keep the energy on the plane a lot better and not just give it all away. Finally earned my Iron Cross 2nd Class! I love the award system and virtual life stuff. What a great idea and it adds such an interesting dynamic! Wrapping up the flight - we were both hit and had minor damage and were RTB. Then we're bounced by a couple Polish Sopwith camels. I'm hit in the engine pretty good and am dead to rights, but my lead fights him off my tail. I dive for the deck, but seeing lead turning with two camels, I turn around to try and throw some bullets their way prior to putting this thing down into a field. Well, I can't really commit my nose up anymore, engine is making some terrible noise, and camel -2 makes me pay for sticking around. As I'm looking at the twisted wreckage of my Fokker all I can think is - what an AWESOME flight. Anyways, thanks DiscoPhil for being an awesome lead. I wish we could've brought those crates home flying parade over our aerodrome. Ah, another time. And thanks to this community that seriously adds a ton. The awesome historical skins, newsletter, awards system ..it's really great. Cheers..er Prost! -Duke 16 2
OpOctopus Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 I have been playing FC for about a month now and boy I enjoy it! I share your opinion on this and yes, this community rocks! I am doing my best to get my friends to play FC. So far, one is starting soon. Welcome! And see you in the sky! o7 2
76SQN-FatherTed Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Like any great MP game, FC is a fantastic story-generator. Flying with someone else adds enormously to the experience, even if you just use the in-game chat.

Spend 30 minutes, or so, setting up zoom views in the QMB (you need to tweak each zoom strength, using he control panel, to tie the left and right image together so there is no ghosting or fuzzy double image), and then assign them with joy2key (or whatever the app is called) to buttons on your joystick. You don't have to then bump into people to find out what they are and you won't be taken un-awares quite so often. Just do it. NOW. You can thank me later, ( not for the MOD, that was somebody, brilliant, else) when you realise it's impossible to play competitively without it. Edited March 19, 2020 by HagarTheHorrible 1

Very enjoyable, very different flight physics, Its almost as if gun duels (il2) turned into hand to hand combat. 3
JGr2/J5_Baeumer Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 This seems to be what so many people say about Flying Circus in VR....incredible experience.
No.23_Starling Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 I can't go back now. CloD just need catch up with VR support! My next big buy is going to be a motion simulator and a fan to complete the illusion

It's my final conclusion that VR is what sells this game, all the other problems with it are inconsequential to the immersion you get with VR. That includes giving up on having a balanced PvP multiplayer experience. I'm waiting for the Oculus Rift S to be back in stock, just so I can get the Samsung Odyssey+ back from my wife, who can't live without her nightly Beat Saber session (there's an inappropriate joke in there somewhere). For the record: Star Wars Squadrons will have both VR and HOTAS support on PC. My body is ready! 1

NO.20_Krispy_Duck Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 (edited) It's generally a solid game, even if it is a limited in terms of the planes and settings offered. There are some issues to revisit (SE5a energy retention, damage of controls on some aircraft compared to others, etc.) but you sort of adapt to the issues. And when I say "limited", I mean that we have a limited selection of planes and one map. I think an expansion of what is offered in the game would do a lot to move it forward. It's enjoyable, though you're left wanting to try a wider variety - earlier planes, different map areas, etc. Edited June 21, 2020 by Krispy_Duck 4
ZiggyZiggyStar Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Yes, my money is set aside for the moment the next volume is announced. Fingers crossed. 3 1
