Alfaunostebas11 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 (edited) Dear friends, I find it difficult to create ground combat situations within my missions. Despite having made some situations that work well, in a certain scenario, when I intend to copy it to insert it on another mission, it takes a lot of time to fix it and put it back in place. And, often I can't. By "OK situation", I mean Soviet cannons and tanks that shoot German ones and vice versa. Cannons often remain silent, sometimes only one side attacks. I have experienced that some weapons are able to perform a self-attack (IL-2 46 style...), without the need for the Attack Area, others do not, some have a limited range, some only fire "on sight", even if, theoretically, by placing a visible Attack Area above the target, they should attack. So, I ask some of you, if you have created a typical situation in which, for example, a Soviet tank brigade attacks German positions defended by anti-tank artillery (PaK). A situation that you can copy and insert on a mission reliably. Thanks, Stebas PS. Or, if the template does not work automatically in the new mission (apart from its activation, via MCUs etc.) what are the variables or parameters that prevent this and for this to be verified and possibly modified. CorvusX Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Hi Stebas, sadly I don't have much experience with artillery or ground fighting units. The artillery I used so far is more for ambient atmosphere, I am satisfied when they do fire into a region that I want to get attacked (like close to the airfield) therefor I uncheck "limit ammo" for them, keep an eye on the fire distance and let them Attack via a medium "Attack area" MCU with Attack "ground checked". If you want to get an Idea of how ground fighting units behave while perfoming an attack, it might help to take a look into some Tank Crew missions via the mission editor (you don't need to own Tank Crew ) there are many of good missions HERE . Or, If you ask them, I bet one of the TC-misionbuilders, like TIGRE88 or Thad a.s.o., can help you out with your problem or at least point you in the right direction . Stay healthy! 1
Stoopy Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 If it helps. here's a test mission I made when I was trying to figure out how to activate long-range artillery, and form what distances it would and would not work. It uses the Attack Area MCU and may not answer your question about interaction between tanks and anti-tank artillery. Artillery Test.zip 1
