Isolation TV choices

I have watched both series before, I also have them on dvd... should have said that in my post.

Both I found to be very gritty and just about as realistic as you can get when sitting in front of a tv screen.

Can't say I found the Pacific worrying in any way, highly enjoyable though and I would encourage anyone who hasn't watched both titles to do so as they are first class.

I wouldn't say it was worrying, but for whatever reason the Pacific affected me more than Band of Brothers. Could be that I saw BoB when I was younger and less, I don't know, dialed in to how something like that would feel. Both series are very much worth watching!

I didn’t care for The Pacific nearly aa much. I watch BoB every other year or so. With The Pacific once was enough.

Me too.  I didn't like The Pacific nearly so much and only watched it the once.  It seemed small and the actors (with the exception of one) were unconvincing.

As some people have mentioned here already, if you like si-fi, The Expanse is a must watch. Best show i have watched for ages, going to have to buy the books, because I can't wait a year for season 5 to find out what happens next

Currently weighing up whether to get Disney plus now, or wait for the first season of the mandalorian to be completely out, and binge watch it in a free weeks trial!

Oh, and I'm 2 episodes into star trek discovery, have already watched Picard.

Be wary. I watched and loved all the series, bought the first book and didn't like it at all. For once, it seems that the tv/film industry has significantly improved upon the printed word. I'm not touching the other books, just waiting for series 5. Cheers.

PS Must meet up for a pint when this is all over. ?

Hmmm, interesting to know, and yes, a pint at the saddlers once this is all over seems a mighty fine idea?

The Saddlers? Do you think that it 's going to re-open after this? It was hanging on by a thread before. I go to the Hair of the Dog when I'm back there these days.

Who knows how many pubs are going to go to the wall ?

I sincerely hope the Duke William in Ickham doesn't disappear though, love the food there.

We quit the Expanse after a few episodes (and I love SciFi)

Does it get better after a while? Or are the first handful of episodes indicative of the entire series?

In my opinion for what little that's worth, it gets better and better as it goes on, season 2 and 3 for me were fantastic.

Same here. Tried it for one or two episodes and forgot about it. On the other hand I was up late binging on season three of Babylon 5.

Fauda is back in a few weeks. That's a great show.

I enjoyed Fringe but I bought that on DVD.

Pity about Picard.  I'm glad for any new trek, but the writers did not do a good job of it.

This week, in an effort to avoid exposing myself to corona virus I've had to expose myself to day time TV.

My god, my eyes!:(   I'm old enough to remember a time when after Watch with Mother finished they actually shut down telly until late afternoon.

Now it  seems a vehicle for promoting greed, gluttony, soft porn and the fear of crime......

For a pensioner audience:rolleyes:

You mean that you haven't bought your funeral insurance already? One afternoon watching the box and you'll be lost without it! Unless, like me, you mute the volume when the adverts come on. Cheers.

Btw, a bored mate just sent me this link. Surprised that this hasn't turned up in the afternoons as well.

The sharp of eye will spot a still from the Battle of Britain movie in there!

Good lord, Van Der Valk:lol:   That marks the time in the early seventies when ITV actually started daytime TV doesn't it?

I seem to remember the summer hols of '73 as being a wet one.  By the end of it I was a ten year old expert in the procedures of the British legal system thanks to

Season 3 of Fauda is on, bro. It's good so far, bro, but some of the dialogue is a bit much, bro.

Conversely I don't remember it being wet at all. Down in East Kent we had no rain for three months then got the whole lot in one September night. Living on the edge of the West country these days I can see how your experience might have been different though. It's raining here now, but there's none in Thanet.

Fire Beacon Hill? Nice part of the world.

Here's the outdoor view from a few miles east of Bath. Hopefully Hadrian will be back to finish the wall when all this over.

No, it wasn't me. Forty years ago I was terrorising the Newton Abbot area ?.

As to what my job used to be, suffice it to say that there isn't anywhere shown on an Ordnance Survey 1:50 000 map in southern England (and quite

a few other bits of the country) that doesn't have my footprints all over it. ?

Zoo keeper! Quite the opposite. Once upon a time, after a marathon drinking session in Tiverton, I decided that it might be fun to be a jaguar and attempted to climb a tree so that I could lay on a branch and drop on people. There again, it might have been a jagular - Winnie-the-Pooh has always been a favourite.

It's a good show, bro. But I thought some of the writing was a bit funky this year, bro. Anyway, I guess it will be a good two-years until season 4, bro.

Watched Delhi Crime a few days back. Oh my, that was nasty and sad, but what an excellent mini-series.

Just watched Da 5 Bloods by Spike Lee.  Really enjoyed it and was carried along for the whole ride.
