Ganbo Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Hi all... I'm a newbie in TC and I have a little problem to understand the soviet gunsight (look at the image). In particulart, I cant understand the three columns: ok, they are distance, but for which weapon? Main Cannon, MG or something else?
Leon_Portier Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Ohh I have the same question! I do have some things tho the most right collumn spells DT, which is the machine gun, for shells I used so far the most left collumn because it lines up with the techchat.
Ganbo Posted March 16, 2020 Author Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) For shells I use the inner right column becouse it has higher range (5,0 km) but I dont know if it's correct. The outer right, I think, is Machine Gun (alway for range). But the left column? Shekspeare would say: "this is the question". Really interesting is the determination of range from the relative size. This is very usefull. My first shoot is always too short or too long. Edited March 16, 2020 by ITAF_Bradipo
VSN_Razor Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 My guess would be left row HE and HEAT (if it has HEAT) and on the right side, the big one for APHE/APCR and all the way to the right machine gun.
Yogiflight Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Usually the scale with the highest range is for HE, as you don't shoot AP rounds on higher distances with those guns, as they don't have very much effect on larger distances. But when you compare the distance of for example 2000m (20) of the two larger scales to the horizontal line on top, you can see, that the distance on the left scale is larger than on the right scale, which means you have a larger elevation of the gun barrel at that distance. That makes clear, that Razor surely is right with his guess. BTW this is something that definitely should be written down in the specifications, which scale is for what ammo.

СГ - "Старая Граната" (Staraya Granata/Old Grenade) it is for Ф-354(F-354) HE round with 640 m/s muzzle velocity ДГ - Дальнобойная Граната(Dalnoboynaya Granata/High range grenade) - for ОФ-350/350А (OF-350) HE round with 680 m/s ДТ - machine gun Дегтярева Танковый(Degtyareva Tankovy/Degtyarev's for tanks) with 840m/s muzzle velocity. APHE БР-350Б (BR-350B) have 655 m/s velocity. Thats why i don't like T-34 - for that not user friendly gunsight Edited March 16, 2020 by NHK295M
Ganbo Posted March 16, 2020 Author Posted March 16, 2020 Oh my god, every grenade has its speed? Wow...This is really cool! Where I can find the manual of TC? (or it's work in progress?)
RAY-EU Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 (edited) I can not pass to the gunner position pressing T or shift T .E engine on and Only can move the tank . VSN_Razor Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Ctrl+C is the key to move to another position. 1
RAY-EU Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) Thank you very much VSN_Razor ‘ LCtrl+C ‘ . Edited March 30, 2020 by RAY-EU
Jade_Monkey Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 you can also adjust the central vertical line to the right/left to correct for wind 1
RAY-EU Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Thanks very much appreciate Jade , I’ll try. Enjoying very much!
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Some more info, from old game Kharkov 42. Please note the annotation, the old game says that the дг is used for "old grenades" which is not the same in Il-2. Since the setting of Kharkov is '42 nor '43 so happens before TC not sure why that would be. The stuff about determining range should be the same though.

Training mission 1 my sight had this view: Only HE symbols and MG. No APHE symbol even if I had it onboard. Training mission 2 my sight had this view: MG, APHE and HE symbols but on different sides of the crosshair. Mission 1 my sight had this view (pic M1-C): No APHE symbol at all! Only HE symbols and MG even if I only had APHE ammo onboard. (Same symbols as training mission 1) It did work well in close combat anyway (2-300m) where I killed a Tiger and a PzIV but still.. It is really annoying not to know which scale to use in the heat of battle. Can someone clarify this primary problem? In the real world, I never think that the gunsights in a T-34 would change like this,, Edited March 15, 2021 by Hotcliff
MOtt Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Some Soviet tanks have both a gun sight and a periscope. Training mission one is the gun sight and Training mission two is the periscope. Depending on the tank, if you press shift+t you will cycle through: free sight > gun sight > periscope Also once in a mission you can pause, hit ESC, and the main menu will now have a new option called "station information" i think which will give some break down on the tank positions and what is available. 1
BlitzPig_EL Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 (edited) And this is why I only drive the Sherman on the Allied side, and the fact that the Sherman is my Waifu tank. Also the reticle on the Sherman is very similar to ones used in modern low power rifle optics, of which I am familiar. Edited March 16, 2021 by BlitzPig_EL
MOtt Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 It's "Station Notes" in the menu. So start the mission in your tank of choice and then go to the main menu and select station notes. Will tell you everything you need to know for the tank you are in. Gives you a nice break down of everything. The attached image is for the T34 gunner position, shows the gunsight and the periscope and even tells us which range indicator to use (point 6 in both the gunsight and periscope) If your in the free tank it might work differently. Have not played the free tanks. 2
