Mungee Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I'm pulling my hair out with frustration! I've watched a number of (instructional) YouTube videos explaining how to amend the (Oculus) Mirror to show Left, or Right, Eye Only but can't get it to happen. I've tried creating a desktop shortcut (run as Administrator) showing the following: Start in: "C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics" Target: "C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusMirror.exe" --LeftEyeOnly I open 'Oculus' I open the above shortcut I launch IL-2 :Great Battles Steam VR automatically opens and I see: - the opening screen as a single image/screen - the menu screed split into 2 halves Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm wanting to (video) screen capture what I see in VR when "flying". Many thanks.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 The split screen of IL-2 is not a bug, it's a feature (tm). Fantastic German humor aside, as far as I know there is no way to change this for IL-2. Don't waste too much of your time mate.
BP_Lizard Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 If my memory serves me right, there was only a single view during the early days of VR implementation. Then it became as what we see it now a few updates later.

SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 I did, it was requested by certain people in the community. Why they would go along with it, I don't know though.
Mungee Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 So, are we saying that there is no way to eliminate the split screen display (on the monitor) when using a VR headset?

At the moment, it's not possible. What this means is live streaming whilst flying in VR is a no no. However, the ingame track recording system is excellent and gives lots of options. Record your mission then put your game in 2D mode to view, make a movie or upload to Youtube. A quick bit of action from the Flugpark server this week.
BP_Lizard Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Or you could tape a piece of black paper on half of your screen. J/K.
KoN_ Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 So, are we saying that there is no way to eliminate the split screen display (on the monitor) when using a VR headset? just found this out crazy why would u want to look at split screens

But yeah if you are wanting other people to see whilst you fly, then that is understandable.

firdimigdi Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Here's what I do when playing with friends & family on the same PC or when they just want to witness my virtual demise: 1. Start Oculus Mirror, set to the player's dominant eye, set its fullscreen render resolution to 25 or 50% since I have a 4K monitor. 2. Set Oculus Mirror to be always on top. I achieve this with a simple AutoHotKey script - I've got Ctrl+Win+T to toggle any windows' always-on-top property. 3. Start the game in windowed mode at 1280x720, maximize/fullscreen the Oculus Mirror and then alt-tab to the game. This way the game has focus but the mirror is visible fullscreen on top. On an RTX 2080 this costs a tiny bit of frametime.
Drano Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 I'm guessing you're trying to do live capture or stream using Oculus Mirror. Game capture would be the better way of course but the game currently only displays the split screen with no option to change it. So you're stuck with window capture. Not exactly ideal performance wise. There is a way to do this but there's a bit of a penalty in FOV of what's displayed. Start Oculus Mirror and click on the window near the top left corner. A menu will appear with all the settings for Mirror. You can set these up as you like and save them so you can just load those settings next time you run it. In one of them you can select left, right or both eyes. Both eyes gives you the split screen effect. If you select left or right eye it will display full screen of that eye but remember the eye selected has a limited view of the opposite side. So it'll be kind of cut off. Like holding your hand over one eye. Looking straight ahead the left eye will show that side just fine along with the chat box but won't show the right side well. That side of the cockpit will be cut off along with the technochat unless you're looking in that direction. And vice versa the right eye not seeing all of the left. I've found something after switching to SteamVR, also not optimal for performance reasons but I did it to be able to use VR NeckSafer. Another way to do window capture that does a bit better of a job with the FOV. Right click on the SteamVR window and select, I think it's display VR? I'm not at the PC just now. That will bring up the SteamVR mirror. Can't remember if you click on the screen or left click on the screen to get the settings menu for that. That mirror has options for either left or right eye, both eyes and also both eyes, left or right dominant. Selecting those last ones will get you a better FOV that blends them together very well. Anyway, that's what I'm doing. I'd really much rather a game capture I could configure like that but at present I guess that's gonna be a no. Stuck with window capture for VR.
