Charlo-VRde Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I have the Oculus Quest running just fine, but for some reason FC won't let me look around - it keeps defaulting to mouse view. I have "Enable VR" checked in the launcher, and Oculus Tray Tool recognizes the launcher, but no joy - I'm just staring straight ahead. Also, I'd ideally like FC etc. to completely fill my FOV, if that's possible. Charlo
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) Your FOV is not filled completely? That sounds as you are not really in VR. Steam has option "Cinema mode for non vr games", and that should be disabled there. Try it. Also disable generic joystick support there, it can make your joystick non visible. Charlo-VRde Posted March 16, 2020 Author Posted March 16, 2020 Thank you, Brzi_Joe - that’s good to hear that my entire FOV should be filled, and that what I’m experiencing means I am not experiencing VR as I should. I don’t have Steam and based on other posts in this forum, I didn’t think I needed to use Steam for VR. Do I need to run Steam or something like OpenComposite?

For Oculus and IL-2, you must use either Steam VR or Open Composite. IL-2 does not have native Oculus support. You do not need to run the game through Steam but you will need Steam to install Steam VR. After Steam VR is installed, it will launch automatically with IL-2. Or use Open Composite, which is what I use and IMHO is the better choice. Edited March 16, 2020 by dburne
Charlo-VRde Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 Cheers, dburne, OpenComposite did the trick, and wow - my flying dreams have come true! After I got my Buttkicker Gamer also working (with the Quest audio turned off) this is wonderfully immersive! I have a much greater understanding of how difficult it is for real pilots to check six. Also, short bouts of about 15 minutes is all my brain can take ?

Yes there is nothing like it, I have been doing VR since Jan 2017 and it never gets old. Every flight is an amazing experience to me.
C6jchuillier Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Hello guys, I have read your post because I have a similar problem but I'm 1 (or more) step behind you. I have a quest, installed BoM, BoS and BoK without steam, I have installed opencomposite (which is just downloading the propen openvr.dll and replacing the one in the game folder, right ?) I launched the game with the replacer openvr.dll file, on the monitor the screen was split in 2, when i got to the game menu (logon and the one after) if I tilted the headset the picture (on the monitor) would tilt accordingly but I NEVER have a picture in the quest, just black..... Where did i go wrong ? Thanks a lot
Charlo-VRde Posted May 1, 2020 Author Posted May 1, 2020 (edited) I haven't experienced the specific issue you are experiencing, but here is how I get the game running in my Oculus Quest using Link: 1. Launch opencomposite, which I have configured to run IL2 runtime instead of SteamVR (because I don't use Steam). I then minimize it. 2. Launch Oculus Tray Tool, in which I have added a profile tied to the IL-2 launcher.exe. I then minimize Oculus Tray Tool, too. 3. Launch the Oculus Debug Tool. I can't remember if this piece of software is necessary. I think I only use it to increase my resolution width to 2352, which maybe doesn't make any difference after all. I only mention it here in case it is necessary to get IL-2 to display in VR in the Quest. I then minimize the Oculus Debug Tool. 4. Connect my USB 3 cable to my Quest, be sure Quest is detected via Link (which will in turn launch Oculus, which I can minimize) 5. Run the IL-2 launcher, and make sure in the settings that "Enable VR" is checked. Then click Play Edited May 1, 2020 by Charlo-VR spelling

You do not need to launch Open Composite each time, it is just a switcher to change from Steam VR to Open Composite. Once done no need to run it again until want to switch back to Steam VR. No real need to launch the Debug Tool, unless as you mention you want to play around with the Oculus Link resolution. I prefer not changing it myself and just use SS in Oculus Tray Tool.
