Does VR for IL-2 BoX require Steam?

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before. I can't find any info on VR on the IL-2 website, which made me wonder whether VR is only supported by the Steam version of the game? I'm thinking about starting into BoX, and I would prefer buying it directly from this website, but only if that doesn't prevent me from using VR in the future.

No, you do not need to buy the game through Steam in order to use VR with it.

...and you don't need to use Steam to run it either if you use Open Composite software

No, buying on Steam is not required, however Steam itself is required, at least for me. BTW: I bought IL2 directly from developers but still need to launch Steam for WMR app to run

IL2 with my HP Reverb.

IL2 with my HP Reverb.

 

You can't install Steam VR without first having Steam installed.

After that, you can run Steam VR on it's own with IL-2. Along with WMR of course if you have that type of headset.
